Christian Eckes’ No. 19 Chevy Silverado RST looked good to win at Richmond on August 10th, 2024, but a late restart changed the course of the race and handed the lead to the No. 98 Ford F-150 of Ty Majeski. Try as he might, Eckes had to settle for the runner-up position at the line, almost one second back.
Eckes, who has won three times in the 2024 season, kept his head held high despite the disappointment of finishing second after leading 64 laps.
“Confidence is high for sure,” Eckes said. “I feel like we’re in a better position than we were last year and I thought we were in a pretty good position last year too. Real proud of the team. We didn’t have quite what we needed today, but proud of everybody and ready to get these next seven races under way.”
As a reminder, the race at Richmond marked the final of the regular Truck Series season, meaning the Playoffs field has been set and the 10 drivers able to race for a championship through the next round of eliminations has been decided. For the first time in Playoffs history, a driver raced his way into the championship in the final cutoff race. Daniel Dye, driver of the No. 43 Chevy Silverado RST, did so by finishing eighth, putting him 12 points above the cutline.
“Just all the hard work these guys have put in and it’s really good to validate myself and the work I’ve put in to change up what I’ve been doing,” Dye said. “It’s so cool to have our 43 in the Playoffs.”
