How To Use The Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra Kicker Tailgate Speaker System: Video

GM equips its modern pickup trucks, including the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, with a multi-function tailgate, offering a variety of work surfaces, cargo stops, and speakers as bonus utilities beyond the tailgate’s normal function of providing closure and access to the truck bed.
Now, we’ve got a video guide on how to use the Kicker speakers on your Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra truck, and how to pair those speakers with Bluetooth, with GM Authority executive editor Alex Luft as your guide, which you can watch right here:
Branded as the Multi-Flex tailgate on the Chevy Silverado and the MultiPro tailgate on the GMC Sierra, this tailgate can be equipped with the optional Kicker Sound System, a 100-watt stereo speaker system with two four-inch coaxial drivers and a small amplifier. You can connect external devices to this sound system via USB-A cable, 3.5mm jack, or Bluetooth.
Here’s the summary of how to connect a Smartphone or other device to the Kicker speaker using Bluetooth. First, drop the tailgate open into its downward position and then open the full-width step, an action that switches on the speaker automatically.
Once the tailgate is deployed and the Kicker speaker switches on, toggle through input modes using the Power button. This toggles between AUX, USB, and Bluetooth as you press it, backlighting the current selection on the small control panel next to the speaker. Bluetooth is shown as a two-triangle rune rather than lettering.
With Bluetooth selected, press and hold the Play/Pause button to enter pairing mode. The Bluetooth rune will start flashing once the speaker is discoverable, at which point you can go into your Smartphone or tablet’s Bluetooth menu, select the Kicker system, and the pairing will complete.
Notably, the Kicker speaker system is an entirely separate system from the regular infotainment system in the cockpit of your Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra.
The Kicker system is weatherproof and draws power from the truck’s battery to operate rather than having a separate power source. Alex Luft ran the system for six hours continuously without draining the truck battery, though we don’t know exactly how much longer than that the speaker could operate without starting the vehicle.
The Tailgate Bluetooth Audio System by Kicker is priced at $895 and is available as an LPO or dealer-installed accessory option. It requires choosing the Multi-Flex Tailgate (RPO code QK2) on the Chevy Silverado 1500 and Silverado HD, and the MultiPro Tailgate (RPO code QK2) on the GMC Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD.
The Kicker Audio System can also be optioned on the 2023 Chevy Colorado and later model years. It is likewise available for the 2023 GMC Canyon and later models, and can be chosen on the GMC Hummer EV Pickup. In all these cases, its price remains $895.

This system sounds really good! I realize it’s probably not for everyone but for those that enjoy their tunes, it’s worth the money.
It doesn’t impress me at all. If you are thinking about one, listen first.
