Here Is The Refreshed 2025 GMC Yukon (With Video)

General Motors has officially pulled the wraps off the refreshed 2025 GMC Yukon, unveiling a series of updates that enhance its design, comfort, and functionality. The debut of the 2025 Yukon completes the refresh of GM’s full-size SUV lineup, and follows the debut of the 2025 Chevy Tahoe, 2025 Chevy Suburban, and 2025 Cadillac Escalade. The 2025 Yukon is headlined by a refreshed exterior and a revamped cabin, cutting-edge technology, and the introduction of two new trims – Elevation and AT4 Ultimate.

Much like the Canyon, Acadia and Terrain, the 2025 Yukon replaces the SLE and SLT trims with Elevation as the entry-level model.

The exterior of the 2025 GMC Yukon shows off a truck-like attitude, offering up unique grille patterns and eye-catching animated lighting signatures. Opt for the Denali Ultimate trim, and the 2025 Yukon equips massive 24-inch eight-spoke wheels, a first for the Yukon nameplate.

Inside, the 2025 Yukon was upgraded with a host of luxurious and high-tech features. The centerpiece is a 16.8-inch diagonal Premium GMC Infotainment Center, presented in a vertical, tablet-style layout, with tactile HVAC controls and a volume knob at the bottom of the screen. The screen is the same as on the 2024 Acadia and 2025 Terrain, albeit bigger. For rear passengers, an optional eight-inch diagonal touchscreen provides climate control, while an expansive panoramic sunroof is also available.

The cabin’s aesthetic is further refined with new wood decor, open-pore laser-etched topographical patterns, chrome accents, and leather-wrapped steering wheel details. Comfort is enhanced with 16-way powered, heated, and ventilated front seats with massage functions, and an Executive Seating package that offers extra space plus seat heating and ventilation via rear captain’s chairs, the same chairs that are used for the front row.

The newly introduced AT4 Ultimate trim makes its debut for 2025, and is outfitted with a front skid plate, 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, and the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension system, the latter of which can raise the vehicle by an additional two inches. The interior of the AT4 Ultimate features a unique Obsidian Rush color scheme, three-row full-grain leather seating, Ash Burl wood accents, and a distinct leather seat design.

Tech-wise, the 2025 Yukon is packed with several advanced safety features as standard, including Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Side Bicyclist Alert, and Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking. The Yukon also boasts next-generation towing technology with features like Transparent Trailer View and Trailer Reverse Trajectory.

Under the hood, the 2025 GMC Yukon continues to offer three powertrain options. The base powertrain is the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, delivering 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. For those seeking more power, the 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax, which replaces the LM2 offered previously, doles out 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.

For the first time, this diesel engine is available in both the GMC AT4 and the new AT4 Ultimate trims. The 2025 Yukon’s towing capacity is rated at up to 8,400 pounds.

Like its full-size SUV siblings, the 2025 GMC Yukon is built on the GM T1 platform. Production will take place at GM’s Arlington plant in Texas, with availability anticipated by the end of the year. Further details, including pricing, are expected closer to production.

  1. I like it 🙂

  2. I like the inside a lot. On the outside, the headlights still bother me. They look like the Sierra headlights were installed upside down. I’m sure they’ll grow on me eventually.

  3. so, anytime you walk behind the vehicle the rear hatch opens automatically. Does anyone see a issue with that? What if I do not want it open? At least have me touch something to say, “I want the hatch open”. What is GM thinking??? Unless Alex did not explain things correctly, but he did say “automatically”

    1. Current processes is to swing your foot forward and back under the rear bumper on the right side
. Lights blink twice with a beep, and then it will open.. same process closes it.
Works great… but I have triggered it several times when squeezing in between it in the back of the garage and it sees my foot go by… I can live with that

      1. Alex said none of this is necessary on 2025 model

        1. Galen – there is a way to disable this feature entirely, and temporarily. Basically, the car will beep a few times to let you know that it’s about to open the hatch. If you don’t want it to open, you step out of the radius (essentially take a step back) and it will cancel the auto open operation.

    2. The Yukon lets you know it is about to open the hatch, so if you don’t want it opened, you step back to discontinue the process. If you don’t like the feature, you can disable it. TFL does a good review of this on Youtube.

    3. It will be the same as the 2024 Acadia; when the setting is turned on and as you exit the vehicle and stand by the trunk of the vehicle, you will hear four beeps and on the fourth beep the trunk will open without you having to press a button.

    4. You have to either step back quick or can disable it

  4. I’m probably going to go with the AT4 Duramax. (Not sure if it’ll be an ultimate or not) but the big RUMOR I’ve seen elsewhere (but didn’t see here) is that the Diesel will have “delayed availability.” I spoke to a guy I know @ the local Chevy dealer who told me its true.

    1. They can’t make the LZ0s fast enough at the moment.

      1. God I hope they don’t do something completely insane like discontinue the diesel for no good reason at all, especially when it is clearly so popular. I would say at least half of the 2020 and newer GM half-tons I see on the road in western Canada have the Babymax. Of the latest refresh trucks (22.5 and newer) the vast majority are the babymax. Everybody loves them, and for good reason.

    2. It is scheduled for ‘late availability’, though I heard it had more to do with sell some of the more fuel efficient/ev vehicles in GM’s portfolio so not to face a substantial fine from the government.

  5. So disappointed in the oversize Ipad dash that looks planted not integrated into the center stack ! They had such a clean simple integrated look from the trucks to bring over instead of this cross between Tesla and Ram. What were you thinking ?
Such a great job on the rest of the unit to put such a controversial dash into this is disappointing.

    1. It’s better than 99% of other ipads out there, that are stuck on above the dashline. At least this isnt’ popping up high and disrupting the dash from left to right.

    2. I’m with you, I’d take the Suburban over the Yukon XL for the dash alone.

      1. How things change
I switched from the Tahoe to the Yukon exactly for the same reason with the 2021 versions

    3. My first reaction was like yours. Then I went for a ride in a new Acadian which has a large screen. We were near a very complex highway interchange in a large city. The north and south bounds had 6 lanes each direction with the feeder roads going between 2-3 lanes each direction. The east/west set up was 3 lanes each way and 2 lanes each side for the feeders. On top of this, the entire area is built up with various businesses and all the roads. I know this intersection very well. High vehicle traffic going as fast as traffic will bear. In all my years which is many I have never seen such a clear visual presentation in a vehicle. Obviously, this is Google Maps combined with GM system and a large screen. Today this is fairly standard technology, but the large screen set up brought a better view to help with navigation. So, I wouldn’t throw it out so quick.

I am leaning on ordering the AT4 Ultimate with the LZ70 motor. Set up very well and now with Night Vision.

  6. Been waiting for the LZ0 motor. Waiting for my dealership to tell me we can now order it.
Have a 21 LM2 and really love it. Did not get air ride adaptive suspension, because I thought it was too new…
So anyone have a comment on how they like the air rides suspension versus the standard suspension

    1. My ’23 XL AT4 has it and for the most part, I like it and use it. The extra ride height gives me added confidence when going off road.
Cons: 1) Unless you are in 4low, you can’t adjust to max ride height. 2) Ride height always lowers upon shutting off the vehicle even when minimum egress is disabled. 3) If you are stopped at a red light for approximately 30 seconds, ride height decreases to egress height. Why?
It seems to me that a lower ride height would be better for less air going under the vehicle.
Side note, my wife’s Denali functions the same way.

  8. I hope I don’t have to get that blacked out grill if I want the AT4 trim. That’s a big problem for me.

Love the diesel’s expanded availability though.

  9. With 8000+ lbs of towing capacity there should be an option for towing mirrors.

  10. Is Apple CarPlay mentioned anywhere in the press material as it was with the 2025 Cadillac Escalade?

On a side note, these rims are getting way too monstrous. What is even the point?

    Reply
    1. Yes there’s CarPlay and android auto

      1. You’re correct, Nabs.
        This is great news.
On the GMC(dot)com “Explore the All-New Yukon” page it states that “Wireless Apple CarPlay®* and wireless Android AutoTM* compatibility” is a “key feature” of the Elevation trim-level. So presumably it is going to be available for other trim levels as well, especially the higher ones like Denali and Denali Ultimate.

Now if they could only shrink the rims down to 22″ or at least have smaller ones optional on the higher trim levels…

  11. No where in any of the reviews or read on here is if the new yukon has interior camera like the new Tahoe does. Can anyone confirm if the Yukon has the interior cameras?

  12. Imo having 2 at4 trims seems unnecessary, especially when the at4 “ultimate” doesn’t really bring anything new to the table, besides from luxury goodies which to me dilutes the at4 trim as a whole.

    1. Respectfully disagree with this. Proud Acadia AT4 owner here. While AT4 Ultimate might not be priority for everyone, my wife and I would have gladly paid extra to have all the extra features on our AT4 that Denali and Denali Ultimate bring to the table.
