Here Are The 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Towing Capacities

Checking in as the fourth model year of Big Red’s all-electric supertruck, the 2025 Hummer EV Pickup introduces a few notable updates for the fresh model year. Today, we’re taking a closer peek at 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup towing capacities in the following GM Authority breakdown.

Before jumping in, here’s a quick overview of the available powertrain configurations. Ultium battery and Ultium Drive motor technologies work in tandem to power all four wheels. More specifically, either a 20-module or 24-module battery pack is available, along with either a two- or three-motor setup. Output figures range from 570 horsepower in the 2X trim level to 830 horsepower in the 3X—and even 1,000 horsepower with the aforementioned 24-module battery.

With that taken care of, here’s the lowdown on 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup towing capacities:

Meanwhile, examples equipped with the Extreme Off-Road Package (RPO code Z6X)—which features all-terrain goodies like skid plates and locking differentials—are rated at 7,500 pounds. Notably, these ratings are similar to those of the preceding model year.

It’s worth noting that the owner’s manual of the Hummer EV Pickup makes special mention of the One-Pedal Driving feature. In fact, the manual points out that while the feature may be useful when pulling a trailer, the brake pedal may sometimes be required to slow down and hold the all-electric supertruck with large loads or steep hills. In addition, trailer brakes are only activated with the brake pedal, but trailer brake lights will be functional during substantial deceleration or when the EV is stopped. It’s recommended to turn off One-Pedal Driving when roads are less than ideal.

Additionally, there are a number of features and technologies General Motors recommends deactivating before pulling a trailer, including:

As a reminder, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup is underpinned by the wide-body variant of the GM BT1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

  1. Who cares? PLEASE, get off this nonstop EV analysis because they just aren’t selling. Nearly all other fan sites that I track (about other automakers) never say a peep about their EVs any more. Oh, that’s right, GM is nearly alone (save for the Koreans) in STILL cranking out endless EVs.

Don’t like EVs then just go.

  2. I still think GM should offer the Hummer with the 3.0 Duramax. Make it around $55k, and that thing would sell like hot cakes.

    1. HAHAHA, if GM offered the Electric HUMMER for $15,000 I would buy one also. Fat chance the new gasoline Hummer will sell for ‘around $55k’.

      1. Bill Howland – First off the Duramax is not gasoline and the reason why the Hummer is so expensive is because of the EV technology and battery. They could offer one for $55k and still make money. I never said $15k.

        1. Okay you’re on.

Since they want so much extra for a Duramax I think I will see a $15k electric Hummer before I see what you want.

          1. Billy Boy – the 3.0 option for my 2022 Silverado was $995.00. Not very expensive. Good luck paying $15k for a EV Hummer.

  3. So sick of hearing EV-EV… imo that was dead in the water when Mary and her merry men and gov reg’s 1st dreamed it up.
I’ve owned GM vehicles all my 75 yrs on this planet. All with V8’s and I plan to leave this world owning them. ! And 1 more thing GM has made a big mistake with is no longer even offering a V6 in any of their SUV lineup other than the Tahoe/Yukon.
    Sad GM very sad.

  4. As far as the “EVs are not selling” nonsense, GM has problems with EV sales since they discontinued TWO of their most popular electrics just when their popularity was growing, namely the Bolt EV and EUV.

But the LYRIQ is second in sales only to the ESCALADES, and it is up something like 400% year over year.

I think nationally, EV sales are up 3%… Nothing earth shattering, but it does put the lie to the ‘Not selling’ nonsense…

I never thought people would RUSH to EVs, so please don’t blame me for Ms. Barra’s Irrational Exuberance.

  5. My dealer has had ten Lyrics sitting on the lot for some time. And they sit…and they sit…

No one ever mentions the towing range of the Hummer EV, or any other EV….

    1. The Lyriq in general far outsells anything but the Escalade.

The car market in general though is slowing.

That means the typical Caddy dealership is having a much harder time selling Ct4 CT 5 xt5 xt6, etc.

So whatever point is trying to be made I don’t get.

I don’t like certain aspects of the 2024s. But I like my 2023. So, Everyone would say, who cares?

      My feelings exactly.

      1. My dealerships current listed inventory as of this morning:
        Escalade – 2
        Combined total XT4, XT5, XT6 – 9
        Lyric – 17

        1. Well I’m not about to second guess why they are ordering that many – obviously the business manager is planning to exploit the HUGE 440% year over year sales increase nationally…

The car apparently sells itself when people look at it closely, and test drive it.

Escalades I assume at that dealership are the most popular product and they are having difficulty keeping them in stock, but as I say their Business Manager knows the business and I for one won’t try to complain about his stocking levels.

Not sure where you are, it is obviously possible that there are some markets where the LYRIQ sells like hotcakes, and others where they don’t sell so much….

But the Business Manager did *NOT* get to where he was in this demonstrated competency job unless he was a favorite relative of the owner, haha.

          1. I am on a first name with the owner down through management. Off hand comments are that to remain a Caddy dealer (The next closest Caddy dealer is 100 miles from here, but two other GM in town) they had to take them. The allotment of Lyrics was determined by GM. They didn’t want them.
They have sold 2 locally, any others have gone out of state just to move them.

I was hoping that GM would discontinue that Idiot policy.

They tried that, along with too many silly requirements for Buick dealers for Upcoming EVs, which in the States they don’t have a single one to sell yet, and they ended up losing almost half their Buick Dealerships.

This is right up there with GM forcing dealerships to remodel the Washrooms to their current whims. All the Showroom forced remodels are bad enough.

I want the dealership to spend money on me by reducing their asking price, not doing needless remodels of a space that is perfectly fine, and I also don’t need Showroom Chargers or parking lot chargers that are constantly shut down anyway.

  6. I’m still curious as to the real world range while towing 7,500 lb?

And I agree that the 3.0 DuraMax in a Hummer would be a good seller.

    1. Got my answer today, my chiropractor used his spanking new Cybertruck to haul his son to college. 18ft enclosed trailer with dorm room stuff, 100 miles, needed charge to come home.

      1. Why you guys continually think that Tesla’s junk is representative of anything, the real answer is that GM’s truck’s 460 mile range translated into 200-230 miles while towing large trailers.

Not perfect but many people can find usability with such a product.

I owned Tesla’s best product. Their converted 2009-2011 Roadster ,(Lotus Elise).

I was okay with the experience but I found out all I needed to know about Tesla from the experience. Other more recent owners, like Hertz, have basically lost their shirt.
