GMC Ranks Average In 2024 American Customer Satisfaction Index

GMC tied with the average in the recent 2024 America Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) study.

With a score of 79 out of a possible 100 points in the mass-market segment, Big Red was ranked ninth overall with a zero-percent change in its score as compared to the 2023 calendar year. Subaru led the pack with a score of 83 points and a subsequent percentage change of one percent, while Chrysler had the worst score at 71 points. Notably, the bottom four brands on the list are all Stellantis brands. For context, GMC posted the same score in the 2023 rendition of the ACSI study.

The average score in the mass-market segment was 79 points, meaning Big Red matched the average score.

Interestingly, General Motors’ other mass-market brands—including Chevy and Buick—received scores of 79 and 80 points, respectively.

There were several key takeaways from the mass-market segment of this study, including:

  • Five of the top six highest mass-market brands for customer satisfaction were import brands
  • While satisfaction improvement was flat overall, metrics for gas mileage and vehicle technology both showed notable gains
  • Continued high levels of ACSI performance for Subaru and Toyota was reflected in the two automaker’s sales gains
  • Kia, Ford, Volkswagen, and Ram all posted strong 2024 ASCI gains
  • Customers are more highly satisfied with hybrid or ICE-power vehicles as compared to EVs

For context, the 2024 ACSI Automobile Study was based on 12,173 completed surveys, chosen at random and contacted via email between July 2023 and June 2024. Contacted consumers were asked to evaluate their recent experiences with automobile brands manufactured by the largest companies in terms of market share, plus an aggregate category consisting of all other—and thus smaller—automotive nameplates. ACSI scores were then given, ranging from zero to 100.

  1. I think the satisfaction is what it is because of the user experience with the infotainment and requirements with OnStar. While I applaud their attempts, there are many bugs and limitations in the software.

On a personal note, I’m annoyed to no end that the car is surrounded by cameras and I can’t tap into them with a record function, even if it were an after-market.

    1. Yes. Why doesn’t this exist. While driving, the camera system should just be on, loop-recording. And if you need to review any footage, you should just be able to go into the system, look at it, and/or create a snip to provide to police or insurance.

For that matter, this could be extended to activate when parked/locked whenever presence/motion is detected. With the plethora of onboard power/batteries these days, it’s not like this tech couldn’t be built-in and supported.

      1. So, basically like Tesla has done for years now?
