The GMC Hummer EV Pickup is jam-packed with technology, from the propulsion system, to the off-roading features, to the infotainment. To that latter point, Hummer EV customers will have access to a range of different infotainment perks via Google built-in compatibility. Now, GMC is highlighting some of that functionality in the following brief video.
The video is just over a minute and a half long, and goes over the basics of the Google built-in system and how it can enhance the infotainment experience in the GMC Hummer EV. The video starts by suggesting that users first complete a one-time sign-in to link their Google account with the Hummer EV infotainment system, which will automatically sync some of the user’s favorite apps with the vehicle system, including Google Maps.
The system also includes Google Assistant, which enables a range of voice commands. The video demonstrates by showing off the voice commands to make phone calls, send messages, set the climate control settings, and launch various media. To utilize voice command, users simply need to say “Hey Google” or push the push-to-talk button on the steering wheel.
Further useful features include the ability to plan out a trip, such as accessing a list of nearby charging stations, and viewing an estimate of the battery charge level at the designated destination, both of which are critical components to EV ownership.

As a reminder, the GMC Hummer EV features GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors, with the GM BT1 platform providing the underpinnings. Vehicle assembly takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.
Notably, GMC isn’t the only GM brand to offer Google built-in, with various Chevy vehicles and Cadillac vehicles offering the technology as well. Going forward, GM plans to drop Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from its new EV lineup.
