GMC has officially confirmed that customer deliveries of the all-electric Sierra EV are now underway. The 2024 GMC Sierra EV is available exclusively in the top-tier Denali Edition 1 trim.
First unveiled in October 2022, orders for the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 opened in March of 2024. Earlier this month, GM Authority was the first to report that the initial units of the all-electric pickup had begun arriving at dealerships.
“Alongside the Hummer EV Pickup and SUV, GMC is now the only brand with three electric trucks,” stated global vice president of Buick and GMC, Duncan Aldred. Aldred’s comment seems to take a subtle jab at Rivian, which currently offers just two electric “trucks” – the R1T pickup and R1S SUV.
Aldred further emphasized the Sierra EV’s standing within the brand’s lineup, declaring, “The Sierra EV is the ‘Denali of EVs’ and the best truck ever made. Period.”
The Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 is packed with advanced features, including an all-electric range of 440 miles, four-wheel steering and CrabWalk mode, the versatile MultiPro MidGate, and a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. The truck also benefits from rapid charging capabilities, with an 800-volt DC quick charger providing up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
Under the floor, the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 is powered by a GM Ultium battery pack and dual GM Ultium Drive motors, delivering a combined output of 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque. This setup enables the truck to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in an estimated 4.5 seconds.
Looking ahead, General Motors will expand the Sierra EV lineup with additional trim levels for the 2025 model year. These will include an Elevation trim, an AT4 trim, and a “non-Edition 1” Denali trim. The expanded lineup is also expected to offer two different battery capacities.
The all-electric Sierra EV rides on the GM BT1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

I saw a truck of these yesterday here in LA. They look pretty damn good
Yea I think it’s certainly the best looking truck on the market for sure. Honestly there isn’t much missing that you’d want in a half ton. I’d expect the elevation trim to still be an impressive truck.
Barra was planning on selling 400,000 of these, or of this and its Silverado twin. They were retooling an entire plant for just these two trucks so it’ll be interesting to see how many GM can actually move.
Ford is seeing the light with their EV plans. They remain a fringe product and Ford sees that. Yet, our beloved gm (formerly GM) continues down the rabbit hole, having spent all this money on the EV boondoggle before thinking things through.
Mr. Aldred can do Duncan Donuts in the parking lot all he wants, the numbers just are not there.
Time will tell. I’ve said before, these 200KWh power packs are worth almost 80 grand standalone. So I think many may pick it up as a battery backup that can be a vehicle.
Agree, what’s the price for this niche jewel? This is a rich man’s toy, but it is cute. At likely $100k I can’t believe that they will sell very many of them. Kind of a waste of factory capacity.
Gorgeous looking truck!! Not worth $100K!!!! Make it $60K and it would probably sell in 5 years when the surplus of charging stations is greater!
Gm’s new small blocks need to offer “class leading” HP/TQ along with a Hybrid powertrain!
Lets have a 10k credit just like they were doing on the Hummer EV.
Well, it’s $12K off if you can combine tax credit and GM Family First. They’re also doing various amounts for conquest sales, and of course teacher, first responders, and military (which of course is a tiny amount comparatively).
It’s time to get the popcorn out to see how bad this movie ends
