GM Truck Rival Ram 1500 Classic Finally Discontinued

The Ram 1500 Classic is not long for this world, with the GM truck rival confirmed to sunset in 2025. As a result, buyers will no longer be able to purchase a new Ram 1500 pickup with a V8 engine following the discontinuation of the Classic model. Meanwhile, there are no signs that GM plans to discontinue the V8 option in its light-duty pickup models anytime soon.
Per a report from The Drive, Ram has confirmed that the Hemi-powered Ram 1500 Classic is headed for the door, with the previous generation making way with the introduction of the new Tradesman trim level in conjunction with the 2024 model year. Notably, the previous DS generation 1500 is older than the Ram brand itself, debuting as the Dodge Ram 1500 for the 2009 model year. The DS generation pickup was sold alongside the current DT generation 1500 since 2019, adopting the Classic name in the process.
Now, the discontinuation of the Classic signals a shift in the available engine options for this GM rival, with the V8 dropped in favor of a twin-turbocharged 3.0L I6 in the newer DT generation. The Classic was produced at Stellantis’ Warren Truck Assembly plant, which recently cut a shift, as GM Authority covered previously.
GM Authority was the first to report on updates expected for the next-generation Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, highlighting an updated architecture known as the GM T1-2 platform. What’s more, GM’s next-gen light-duty pickups will also offer the sixth-generation of GM’s Small Block gasoline engines, delivering improvements in both performance and efficiency, including a 10-percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The current Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 lineup offers the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine.

I remember when they started this continuation of the line, and am surprised to learn it lived so long.
But not as long as Toyota🤣
trump will win this in november.
Out of context and “weird”.
GM please do not make the same stupid move.
Way to go, Stellantis. GM,Ford, and Toyota should send them thank you cards
Toyota stopped putting V8s in the Tundra starting in the 22 Tundra.
Needed the diesel to stay competitive
Well that’s one less relatively budget-friendly option for the consumer. What could possibly go wrong?
