GM Releases Fix For BrightDrop Zevo 600 Water Leak Around Windshield

General Motors has released a Service Bulletin for select units of the BrightDrop Zevo 600 due to an issue with water leaks.

According to Service Bulletin 24NA129, certain 2023 and 2024 model-year vans may have a condition where water appears to be leaking from the windshield area. It’s believed that this issue is due to a myriad of factors that inhibit the ability of the factory-installed sealants to seal the upper structure. To rectify this problem, certified GM technicians will be instructed to inspect affected vehicles and install new roof panel joint front finish moldings, which feature multiple design changes to improve their ability to mitigate water leaks. Notably, this should take GM techs a little more than four hours to perform.

It’s worth noting that it’s currently unclear how many units are affected by this water-leaking issue.

In other quality-related BrightDrop developments, GM Authority reported earlier this year that The General issued a Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) for some 2023 BrightDrop Zevo 600 units that never had the passenger-side jump seat installed from the factory. With 57 parts involved with that CSP, the Detroit-based automaker elected to install the seat as was deemed necessary.

Before that, General Motors released a recall for the all-electric van due to an issue with the deployment of an airbag.

As a reminder, the BrightDrop Zevo 600 was the fastest-developed vehicle General Motors has ever produced, taking just 20 months to move from concept to commercialization. Boasting a cargo capacity of 600 cubic feet, the Zevo 600 is capable of traveling up to 250 miles on a full charge. A plethora of safety features are equipped as standard affair, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Front and Rear Park Assist, and IntelliBeam LED headlamps.

Propulsion is sourced from GM Ultium battery and GM Ultium Drive motor technologies, which develop 240 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque in FWD configuration or 300 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. Regarding charging, the Zevo 600 offers 200 kW max DC fast charging in addition to AC Level 2 11.5 kW or optional 19.2 kW charging capabilities, along with a peak recharging rate of 160 miles per hour.
