(Sales of the Escalade and Escalade ESV are not broken out for the Mexico market.)
Chevy commanded over half of total GM full-size SUV sales in the United States at 54 percent during Q2 2024.
Buyers often cross-shop body-on-frame SUV equivalents to unibody crossovers, especially ones that are similar in size, like the Chevy Tahoe SUV and Chevy Traverse crossover. Buick is currently the only GM brand that doesn’t offer a body-on-frame model.
Looking at combined GM utility vehicle sales, including body-on-frame SUVs and unibody crossovers sold by Chevy, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac. The Bow Tie brand dominated as usual with 61 percent of total GM utility sales during the quarter, with it selling four of the top five models again. GMC accounted for 17 percent of sales, with Buick at 13 percent and Cadillac at nine percent. Chevy crossovers alone made up for more than half of total utility sales at 51 percent.

While GM full-size SUV sales fell 14 percent to 68,416 units during Q2 2024, overall GM utility sales were down three percent to 352,842 units. Utility sales fared better than SUV sales, and the latter accounted for nearly a fifth of all utility deliveries, at 19 percent.
Consequently, GM earns a substantial portion of its revenue and resulting profit from full-size SUV sales, which are crucial to the automaker’s financial health. In fact, it’s often believed that these full-size models are The General’s most profitable products on a per-unit basis, even more profitable than full-size trucks with which they share the T1 platform.

Comments
Hope it continues. It’s all about price and not at just GM.
Maybe people are waking up and getting tired of $1,200 a month payments on just the vehicle and then another $500 to a $1,000 a month in gas. And for what? Just to drive an oversized SUV to haul your 2.5 people and soccer gear that would easily fit in the trunk of a Malibu?
You forgot the cost of insurance.
@Just me: I didn’t forget it, but decided not to bring that one up since having a vehicle required car insurance no matter where you live or brand/model. But you make a valid secondary point in that insurance costs more on these huge gas hogs with huge prices. So you are correct.
STOP BUYING!!!! Then the prices HAVE to come down. The incentives will be very high, and hopefully interest rates go down to where they were 5 years ago. Way to many impulsive buyers the past four years.
