GM car sales, which in the U.S. include the Chevy Camaro, Corvette, and Malibu, along with the Cadillac CT4 and CT5, decreased in the United States but increased in Canada during the second quarter of 2024. They also increased in Mexico, where Chevy is the only GM brand that sells cars there.

In the U.S., the Corvette posted the only sales gain in Q2 2024. The Malibu continues to be GM’s volume leader by far, accounting for over two-thirds of car sales at a 69 percent share. That comes as no surprise since it’s the only non-luxury sedan offered by GM in the U.S. and the only sedan currently on sale from the Bow Tie brand.

While the Malibu, Camaro, Corvette, CT4, and CT5 all fall directly within GM’s car category, we can argue that the term “car” also describes other types of vehicles. Specifically, that could extend the definition of “car” to unibody crossovers and unibody pickups (though GM doesn’t sell the latter in North America) since they use the same integral body structure as cars, albeit with a different body style that calls for a higher hip point and higher roof height.
With that in mind, looking at all 25 GM unibody vehicles sold by Chevy, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac, sales were down four percent for 337,465 deliveries. Furthermore, traditional cars accounted for 16 percent or about a sixth of GM’s overall unibody vehicle sales.

Four of the top five GM unibody cars are all sold by the Bow Tie brand, with the Chevy Trax now in the lead with 52,875 deliveries, followed by the Chevy Equinox, Malibu, and Chevy Trailblazer. The GMC Terrain takes the fifth spot. These five models alone accounted for nearly two-fifths, or 58 percent, of all GM unibody sales.
Notably, four models have been discontinued. That includes the Camaro and Buick Encore, which is indirectly replaced by the all-new Buick Envista, while production is officially over for the current generation Chevy Bolt EV and Bolt EUV duo.
Chevy even commanded GM unibody sales overall, making up two-thirds, or 67 percent, of all unibody deliveries, while Buick accounted for 13 percent, GMC 11 percent, and Cadillac eight percent.

Comments
They let their Malibu rot on the vine. Of course their sales are down 50 percent.
Makes sense: Your comment doesn’t make sense.
Malibu sales (from the chart) YTD are just over 78K. Half that would be 39K. YTD sales are 69K.
Quarter sales: 40K and half would be 20K. Malibu Quarter sales are 36K.
How are they down 50%? But you are 100% correct that they are letting it rot away in spite of relatively good sales.
It might help if they advertise along with upgrading.Bought a used 23 ct4 sport and I love it. Quite great handling and averaging more than 30 mpg .
True!!!…Shame But GM’s (WTH) Mind Set!!!!
Looks like GM has CHOSEN to exit the car business. Sad.
It isn’t sad for people focused on GM making money. With the new contract a GM UAW worker will be making an average of $75 per hour (wages and benefits) at the end of the contract. Sedans don’t have the margins to be assembled at a profit with $75 per hour labor
Right… “$75 per hour.”🙄
At the end of the day, they’ll be taking home (NET) about $35K-45K per year.
Maybe when you order a car from any dealer it would go in line not just the A dealer s then the B dealer then the C dealers. But then again, they haven’t got it over all the years and will never change.
It’s called turn to earn. It punishes dealers for adding “market adjustments” that should not be there. Or would you prefer to order your car only to discover at arrival an extra 10K “adjustment”? Find a better dealer.
Your way off base. You better talk to people that know about ordering car for a dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wait! GM builds a car?? Who knew. I did see a gorgeous Camry at an intersection today…
