Engineers And Designers Give A Tour Of The Chevy Equinox EV: Video

Making its big debut for the 2024 model year, the Chevy Equinox EV marks a significant step forward for Chevrolet’s all-electric lineup, slotting in just below the Blazer EV and promising a combination of cutting-edge technology and practicality, all at a relatively affordable price point. Recently, GM released a video tour showcasing the key features of the Equinox EV, led by some of Chevrolet’s top engineers and designers.

Clocking in at a little over four minutes, the video provides insights from several notable figures, including Chevrolet Creative Designer Sam Bell, GM Global Vehicle Chief Engineer Mark Allen, and GM Public Charging Network Optimization Manager Dalya Aboona.

The tour begins with a focus on the exterior design, which Bell describes as sleek, harmonious, and aerodynamic. The vehicle’s brow line is highlighted as a key element that enhances its stance, giving the Equinox EV a modern and confident appearance.

Inside, the Chevy Equinox EV features a dual-display setup, consisting of an 11-inch digital gauge cluster and a 17.7-inch infotainment display, both of which are customizable and integrate with Google built-In, including Google Maps. The Equinox EV also offers attractive ambient lighting and two-tone interior options, adding a layer of personalization for drivers.

As for the propulsion technology, the video details the vehicle’s ability to gain up to 25 miles of range in just one hour with Level 2 charging, and up to 70 miles of range in just 10 minutes using DC Fast Charging. In terms of range, the Equinox EV boasts over 315 miles per charge, making it one of the most affordable electric vehicles in its range category. This, combined with advanced features like Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free driving assistance system, makes the Equinox EV a compelling choice for those looking to transition to electric driving. As a reminder, the Chevy Equinox EV features GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors, with the GM BEV3 platform providing the bones. Vehicle assembly takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

There is an ICEV model on sale. Just ask your dealer. But the EV is much better!

OK Three things not covered that are very important.
One: Fast charge speed for road tripping is too slow. Not class leading for its price.
You really good with the Silverado, 350KW charging why hasn’t that trickled down to this car they are all Ultium right
Two: How about a NACS connector for the best, most reliable charging network there is, Tesla.
Three: Charge panning for a road trip. Can you do this really well?
Question: Does it have a heat pump? Really important for most people to get efficient range.
Last through you should have not angled the glass so much to give the cargo area more room

One of the many things that I liked about the Equinox EV is the way the console cover opens. Instead of lifting from the front and raising toward the back of the car, which makes it difficult to reach back to grab it to close it, it is hinged on the passengers side so it lifts away from the driver. Thus it is easy to not only open but to close it. It is little things like this that show thought was put into doing things correctly.
