Consumer Reports has published its latest list of the “Best Luxury Cars You Can Buy Right Now,” and the 2024 Cadillac CT4 made the cut. The consumer group praised the CT4 for a number of different reasons, including the handling and range of powertrain options. The 2024 CT4 debuts the fifth model year for the sedan, introducing only a few small updates and changes over the preceding 2023 model year.
Looking over the Consumer Reports list, the 2024 Cadillac CT4 was ranked fourth among “Luxury Entry Level” models. The 2024 Audi A3 took the top spot in the segment, followed by the 2024 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and 2024 Acura Integra. This particular list focuses only on cars and does not consider crossovers or SUVs.
Consumer Reports praised the Cadillac CT4 for a number of different things, including the handling, braking, and steering, all of which communicate the “prowess of a well-honed sports sedan.” Among the powertrain options is the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, followed by the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. The former connects to the GM eight-speed automatic transmission, while the latter connects to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission.
Consumer Reports also highlighted the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, describing it as “a true track-ready rocket ship.” Under the hood, the CT4-V Blackwing cradles the twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF4 gasoline engine, rated at 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. For cog swaps, either the GM six-speed manual or the GM 10-speed automatic is onboard.
Further praise is given for the “comfortable” front seats, while the group calls the fit and finish “top notch,” although the rear seating is criticized as “very cramped.”
To note, the Cadillac CT4 rides on the GM Alpha 2 platform, with North American production taking place at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.
Interestingly, the Cadillac CT5, which Consumer Reports categorizes as a “Luxury Compact”, failed to make the list, losing out to rivals like the BMW 3 Series, Lexus IS, Audi A4, and even the ancient Infiniti Q50.

I bought a 2023 ct4 sport, love it, just one problem the check engine light has been on since day one.emissions crap and the parts are back ordered. It’s only got the 2.0L , wish it was the 2.7 but it’s got some get up and go. Quite, great handling car and you can see out of all the windows. 7,700 miles and the lights on, quality control job one, not!
