Chevy Tahoe Z71 Rival 2025 Ford Expedition Tremor Caught Completely Uncovered: Photos

Ford is gearing up to launch a new Tremor variant for the Expedition full-size SUV, slated to debut with the 2025 model year refresh. The upcoming 2025 Ford Expedition Tremor will expand the Tremor off-road sub-brand, which already includes off-roader variants for the F-150, Super Duty, and Maverick. The new Tremor will replace the short-lived Explorer Timberline, which doesn’t carry over for the 2025 model year, as well as serve as a competitor to the Chevy Tahoe Z71.

Recently caught completely uncovered by our sister publication, Ford Authority, the 2025 Ford Expedition Tremor prototype seen here reveals styling influences pulled from the 2024 F-150 and 2025 Explorer, as well as several distinct styling cues reminiscent of the existing Tremor lineup. Notable features include orange accents around various exterior elements, such as the fog light surrounds, tow hooks, and wheel inserts.

The unique wheel design, combined with rugged all-terrain tires, emphasizes the new Tremor’s enhanced off-road capabilities, as does the generous ground clearance. The front fascia also sports slim lighting elements flanking the Ford badge in the grille.

The rear of the prototype showcases a split liftgate, a feature that first made its debut on the all-new 2025 Lincoln Navigator, offering an extra dash of practicality to the mix.

Inside, the 2025 model year will introduce a reworked cabin with a new digital dashboard, including a larger primary screen up top and a smaller secondary screen below it. The refreshed interior also shows off a redesigned steering wheel and updated control layout.

While official details on the powertrain remain under wraps, the new 2025 Expedition Tremor is expected to retain the high-output 3.5L EcoBoost V6 cradled by the outgoing Timberline trim level. Output in the current model is set at 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, channeled through a two-speed transfer case.

    1. Yeah, not sure who thought that color blue-gray would go with orange. Maybe a colorblind engineer? Black would have been the go to color for the orange accent.
