Out of the pickups studied by Cars.com for their Best Cars for Car Seats list of 2024 models, only the 2024 Chevy Colorado was chosen to receive the accolade as one of the best, based on the ease of installing several kinds of car seats in the vehicle’s cabin.
The Chevy Colorado was one of two Chevrolet models included on the list, though the other, the 2024 Chevy Trax, was naturally part of the two-row SUV category, with slightly lower ratings than the Colorado.
Cars.com assigns the vehicles on the list letter grades in several different categories related to seat installation and attachment. The 2024 Chevy Colorado received two A grades and three B grades for the five categories it was rated on. Some vehicles got “straight As” from the study, though none of them are pickup trucks.
The Chevy Colorado got A grades for the Latch and FFC categories. Latch ratings refer to the ease of using the lower anchors and top tether anchors to install a child seat in the vehicle. FFC designates “forward-facing convertible” child seats typically used for larger kids older than 2 years after they outgrow rear-facing seats.
The B grades of the 2024 Chevy Colorado were for the attachment and use of the Infant, RFC, and Booster seat categories. While Infant is self-explanatory, RFC is the “rear-facing convertible” category and measures ease of installation and use for rear-facing child seats used for youngsters usually up to around two years old. Booster refers to high-back booster seats, usually for four- to eight-year olds weighing less than 80 pounds.
The booster seat is placed behind the driver while the other seats are put behind the passenger for convenience testing. Cars.com says it used a “Chicco KeyFit 30 infant car seat, a Graco Contender 65 convertible and a Graco TurboBooster” to conduct the testing.
Meanwhile, the Chevy Trailblazer, which did not make the Cars.com list, was rated as one of the best vehicles for installing three child seats by Consumer Reports. 32 other vehicles also met this highly specific test parameter, but the Trailblazer represents yet another child-seat-friendly Bow Tie model.

As a reminder, the Chevy Colorado rides on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, with production taking place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

Grocery getting truck, this award proves it. With its baby bed.
So Ken how does this prove anything negative about this truck, I just think you are brand loyal somewhere else and you are just trying to down this truck because you really know how much better it is then your brand.
I have had many full size and mid size trucks from makes including Toyota, Ford, GMC, and Chevrolet. And this is my favorite all around truck I ever owned. It does many things very well. When comparing to all other mid size truck brands I test drove and researched the Colorado Z71 clearly hands down was the best truck.
Trucks need a at least a 6 ft bed plus the tailgate . I do a lot of home improvements hauling lumber and there is no way I am putting 10 ft boards in a 5 ft bed, ridiculous. I’ve been a gm buyer since mid 1990s. Sorry Paul I hurt your feeling, I do think the front half on the truck is fine if that makes you happy.
I certainly do understand what you are saying Ken, I am a license home builder, I use these trucks in real world construction. We have bed extenders that fit into the trailer hitch that allows us to carry long material. We also tow trailers that will fit 16’ long material. These trucks actually tow better than any other mid size trucks and also better than some of are full size trucks. Short bed makes it easier to tow and park. I promise you did not hurt my feelings.
I was more than ready to buy the new Colorado until I saw it in person. The back seat is only suitable for children. I believe it would be impossible to seat adults there. Also, the cargo bed is smaller than some car trunks.
The 24 Tacoma is worse in this regard… in back space on some cab models…
