Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)

Chevy Blazer EV sales, now in its first full year on sale, posted over 10 times as many deliveries during Q2 2024 as the previous quarter, moving up a spot in the mainstream midsize electric vehicle (EV) crossover SUV segment sporting five models.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E (see running Ford Mustang Mach-E sales) led this space with a 47 percent upswing to 12,645 units. It was followed by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 in second with a 51 percent jump to 11,906 units, and the Kia EV6, the Ioniq 5’s corporate cousin and platform mate, in third, with a 39 percent bump to 6,882 units. The Blazer EV (see running Chevy Blazer EV sales) moved up a spot to fourth place with 6,634 deliveries and within about 250 units of third, while the Volkswagen ID.4 dropped to last with a 15 percent dip to 5,690 units.

The Chevy Blazer EV sales earned a 15 percent market share in its segment. The Mustang Mach-E posted a 29 percent segment share, while the Ioniq 5 held a 27 percent share, and the EV6 earned a 16 percent share. The ID.4 finished out the list with a 13 percent share.

The mainstream midsize EV crossover SUV segment accounted for 43,757 deliveries during Q2 2024, up 55 percent year-over-year.

The Chevy Blazer EV competes in the mainstream midsize EV crossover SUV segment, in which we currently include mainstream (non-luxury) BEVs that fit into the Compact Plus (C+) and Midsize (D) segments. Beyond the mainstream EV segment being discussed here, the remaining EV segment is the premium EV market that contains models from Tesla, Audi, Porsche, Cadillac, Acura, Jaguar, VinFast, and Genesis. Accordingly, we are not including Tesla models in the mainstream EV crossover segment sales analysis since they are considered premium/luxury models.

It’s also worth noting that some mainstream models also include variants with an internal combustion engine (ICE) and/or hybrid (HEV) and/or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version. That includes the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, and Mazda CX-70. Consequently, these models do not compare directly to the Chevy Blazer EV. As a result, these particular models are no longer included in our analysis. Additionally, while the Ioniq 5 is a crossover, the similarly named Ioniq 6 is an all-electric sedan and is not included in this analysis.

The GM Authority Take

After a full year on sale, the Chevy Blazer EV sold enough units in Q2 2024 to finally move up from the bottom of its segment and was even within spitting distance of third place, or mid-pack.

When the much-anticipated high-performance SS variant finally arrives, we expect Chevy Blazer EV sales to really take off while also taking on the Kia EV6 GT.

Already, the Chevy Blazer EV conquest rate is running at 40 percent, meaning sales to buyers who have come over from a rival brand.

Meanwhile, GM officially unveiled the all-new 2025 Chevy Blazer EV in Brazil.

About Chevrolet Blazer EV

In July 2022, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV made its official debut, ushering in the Bow Tie brand’s mass-market midsize battery-electric crossover. Headlined by a maximum GM-estimated range of 320 miles from a full charge, the Chevy Blazer EV will be available in front-, rear- and all-wheel drive configurations, while the trim level lineup will include 1LT, 2LT, RS, and Blazer EV SS, along with a Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) model for law enforcement, making it the quickest police package ever offered by Chevy.

The first two trim levels on sale are the Chevy Blazer EV 2LT AWD and RS AWD, but the upcoming RS RWD will include a higher capacity battery pack than these trim levels.

The GM Super Cruise advanced semi-autonomous driver assist system will also be available on the new Blazer EV.

The midsize crossover rides on the GM BEV3 platform, motivated by the GM Ultium battery and GM Ultium Drive motor technologies. As for output, the Blazer EV LT AWD and RS AWD two-motor setup delivers 288 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque, while the Blazer EV RS RWD’s single rear-mounted motor develops 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet.

Check out the horsepower and torque figures of the 2024 Blazer EV RS RWD, along with the 2LT AWD and RS AWD variants.

The Bow Tie brand is even introducing a Super Sport model for the first time in a long while with the new all-electric crossover. The Chevy Blazer EV SS will offer a standard performance AWD propulsion configuration delivering up to 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque, enabling a zero-to-60 mph time of under four seconds in the Wide Open Watts (WOW) acceleration setting. Additional performance-focused features include a specific sport-tuned chassis and Brembo front brakes.

The 2025 Chevy Blazer EV will offer Midnight and Sport Edition packages and gain new painted roof options but won’t offer a certain paint color.

For 2025, the 2LT trim level becomes 4LT and gets cloth seats, while the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV SS and Blazer EV FWD are set to arrive later in the model year. The 4LT trim level will be called just LT for consumers.

Production of the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV start has been delayed till August 5th.
