Check Out The Lighting Sequence On The 2025 GMC Yukon: Video

Following the 2025 Chevy Tahoe, 2025 Chevy Suburban, and 2025 Cadillac Escalade, the GMC Yukon is the last of GM’s full-size SUVs to have its refresh announced. As with its platform mates, the list of changes is just as comprehensive for the Yukon.

On the visual side, the 2025 GMC Yukon sees tweaks to its front fascia, including the grilles, bumpers, and what people will notice most on the road – the lights. The headlights and fog lights feature a new shape, while the tail lights get a small tweak. Regardless, both sets of lights feature a new lighting animation, which you can see in the video below:

This new animation appears when someone with the key fob approaches the 2025 GMC Yukon, as a kind of welcome lighting. The whole thing gives the full-sizer a very premium look and feel.

Of course, this is just one of the many improvements to the 2025 Yukon. Other highlights include the introduction of two new trims, Elevation in place of SLE and SLT, as well as AT4 Ultimate.

The cabin sees a host of changes, including the portrait-style Premium GMC Infotainment Center display that first appeared in the 2024 Acadia and 2025 Terrain. In the Yukon, the screen grows to 16.8 inches diagonally. Upgraded materials, more tech, and more safety features as standard complete the refreshed interior.

The 2025 GMC Yukon continues to offer three powertrain options. The base powertrain is the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, delivering 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. For those seeking more power, the 6.2L V8 L87 produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The torquiest of the bunch is the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax, which replaces the LM2 offered prior to the refresh. The LZ0 doles out 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque, and is finally available on the AT4 and the new AT4 Ultimate trim for the first time.

As has been the case since the 2021 model year, the Yukon continues to ride on the GM T1 platform and production takes place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas. Availability is anticipated by the end of the year. Further details, including pricing, are expected closer to production.

  1. Is the black grille surround made of a plastic material? It seems cheap-looking. I like everything else about the new Yukon.

    1. Most likely, that’s the case for essentially every vehicle on the market.
