As Big Red’s first modern all-electric offering, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup plays an important role in GMC‘s model lineup. And just like its namesake, the Hummer EV Pickup a larger-than-life vehicle, demanding attention almost anywhere it goes. Of course, that large size leaves plenty of room for special exterior details and Easter eggs, so be sure to follow along with GM Authority’s Alex Luft as he walks through every exterior item.
For starters, here’s a quick-and-dirty overview of this particular Hummer EV Pickup. Coated in the Interstellar White (color code GAZ) paint color and equipped with the Hard Power Retractable Tonneau Cover, LPO (RPO code 5KM), this all-electric supertruck is highlighted by the Extreme Off-Road Package (RPO code Z6X), which includes the following content (relevant RPO code in parenthesis):
- 18-inch Black aluminum wheels with machined accents (RCS)
- LT305 / 70R18 Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires (QMG)
- Full Underbody Skid Plates (NZZ)
- Driver-selectable electronically locking front differential (G93)
- Driver-selectable electronically locking rear differential (G94)
- Forward and Rearward underbody cameras (LPO, UXA)
- Black Rear D-Ring Recovery Hooks (LPO, SDA)
- Rocker Protectors with Assist Steps (LPO, S6L)
Right off the bat, GMA’s Executive Editor starts off by pointing out just how wide the Hummer EV Pickup really is, as its front fascia is accentuated by its coast-to-coast light bar. Interestingly, the light bar mimics the grille of its ICE-powered predecessor, and spells out ‘Hummer’. On either side of the light bar lies a lighting element with a subtle ‘H’, a theme that can be found throughout the all-electric supertruck. Further down, we find the headlamps, as well as a set of heavy-duty tow hooks below that.
Moving around to the side, the squared-off wheelwells contribute to the robust off-road look, complimented well by the aforementioned wheels. In regard to the shape of the Hummer EV Pickup itself, the upright silhouette gives it an attractive profile and is underscored by the contrasting white and black styling elements taking place all over. Down below, an assist step helps to hide where the GM Ultium batteries lie.
Out back, the wide rear glass eases the transition into the sail panels, which themselves brings us to the taillights and MultiPro tailgate. Of course, the former boasts an hourglass shape in its detailing, while the latter can be opened in a myriad of configurations. Finally, a piano black rear bumper and another set of the tow hooks round out the rear fascia.
As a reminder, the Hummer EV Pickup is underpinned by the GM BT1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.
