The GM Authority Take
Cadillac CT5 sales have been down for the third quarter in a row in Q2 2024, continuing a reversal of a positive trend during the first three quarters of 2023. Yet, it maintained its seventh-place, mid-pack placement again among 15 entries that include competition from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lexus, and Volvo—all of which keep beating the CT5 on a collective basis.
However, that’s about to change somewhat since the Volvo S60, a Cadillac CT4 and CT5 rival, has been discontinued.
Furthermore, sales of the CT5 may be impacted by a generational changeover since production of the refreshed 2025 CT5 production was delayed till this past May, while refreshed 2025 CT5-V production was delayed till late July, with refreshed 2025 CT5-V Blackwing production pushed even later.
Initial units of the CT5 Premium Luxury and Sport trims started arriving at dealers around early June. Cadillac is no doubt hoping the updated CT5 lineup will fuel a much-needed boost to sales.
About Cadillac CT5
The 2024 Cadillac CT5 arrives as the fifth model year of the luxury four-door, offering up a few important changes and updates across the lineup compared to the preceding 2023 model year. That includes standard IntelliBeam headlamps across the entire CT5 for all trim levels. Furthermore, the 2024 model year gets a new Red Accent Package on the CT5, as does the CT5-V and the CT5-V Blackwing. Additionally, the 2024 CT5 Onyx Package will include a new decklid spoiler.
The 2024 Cadillac CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing both get additional elements to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the V-Series sub-brand, namely a 20th Anniversary grille header decal and unique instrument cluster wake-up animation.
Here is what’s new and different about the 2024 Cadillac CT5, CT5-V, and CT5-V Blackwing.
This past September, GM debuted the refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5, revealing new styling and tech along with more standard safety features along with new advanced ones. Its contemporary styling includes an updated front fascia and a lower, wider front grille. Inside, the refreshed CT5 features an all-new 33-inch touchscreen with 9K resolution and a customizable user interface.
In January, GM revealed the refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5-V and updated Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. For 2025, the GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system is now included as standard on the CT5, CT5-V, and CT5-V Blackwing, when the latter is equipped with the optional automatic transmission.
The 2025 CT5 drops the Luxury trim level and the V Performance Package, while the 2025 CT5-V gets standard heated seats and steering wheel along with a revised Platinum Package. Additionally, the 2025 CT5-V Blackwing gets a new Precision Package.
The refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing represents the fourth model year for the ultra high-performance luxury sedan, and a new limited-edition variant has been revealed as part of the ongoing Collector Series portfolio, namely the Le Monstre Edition.

When you eliminate the Luxury edition which accounted for maybe 37% of all units sold you will see a decrease in net sales.
This will be another one of those cars that folks will never purchase, but b!tch when Cadillac discontinues….
A purchase is a vote.
It is extremely difficult to compete with BMW in this segment.
Isn’t the CT5 competing with the 5 Series?
How the Volvo S60 numbers went so up?
How are they keeping this plant going at this low volume of sales? Of course, they laid off the Camaro line workers.
Lansing Grand River has a stamping operation that supplies a few gm plants. Also new product is on the way to the assembly operation in a couple of years.
The CT5 is the size of a 5 series BMW. Why is the comparison to a 3 and 4 series BMW?
I bought the entry level version with 2 options. The color, and heated seats. 2022. Now that version is gone, and the prices and level went up.
Sales went down. Coincidence? I think not.
I tried to buy a CT5 in 2022 when their was no production because of chip shortage, I cancelled after six months waiting.
I want to order a new one but the colors have changed since ’22. Now all the colors look cheap as in inexpensive, so no CT5 for me. For $95k I am not going to compromise on color.
The ’22 I tried to order was bandy wine maroon, now nothing but the basic black, white and grey with a couple colors that would look good on a VW Beetle but not a Caddy.
