Cadillac CT4 sales in Q2 2024 slipped a spot to place essentially last in the small luxury car segment when ranked by sales volume, down from the previous quarter.
The Acura Integra remained at the top, as it has for far well over a year now, in spite of a 19 percent slide in sales to 7,153 units. The Audi A3 followed in second place with an 11 percent dip to 3,335 units. The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class moved up to third with an 18 percent bump to 2,985 units. It landed just ahead of the BMW 2 Series, made up of two mechanically distinct models – the two-door Coupe and four-door Gran Coupé – which slipped to fourth with a three percent bump to 2,898 units. The CT4 (see running Cadillac CT4 sales) followed in fifth and basically last with a 35 percent drop to 1,768 units, as the discontinued Mercedes-Benz A-Class posted just two deliveries.

CLA-Class and 2 Series both held a 16 percent share, up four and two percentage points, respectively.

The GM Authority Take
Cadillac CT4 dropped to last place in the small luxury car segment this time around, with sales falling 35-plus percent year-over-year for another quarter in 2024.
The luxury marque’s model continues to underperform compared to updated offerings from key rivals. That includes high-performance variants like the all-new 2024 Acura Integra Type S and redesigned 2023 BMW M2, both of which compete with the Cadillac CT4-V and CT4-V Blackwing. Notably, for 2025, the CT4 did not receive a refresh like the 2025 Cadillac CT5 did, along with the 2025 CT5-V and the 2025 CT5-V Blackwing.
In spite of the CT4’s sales challenges, GM’s design chief confirmed that “sedans aren’t dead” at Cadillac.
“SUVs are a necessary evil,” GM Global Design Vice President Michael Simcoe said. “They’ve taken over the market. [SUVs are] a comfortable, rational purchase. For those who can afford it, though, there’s always a second car that isn’t an SUV. We will certainly have a sedan in the portfolio at some point in the future. Sedans aren’t dead.”
He also acknowledged that it will likely include all-electric models.
About Cadillac CT4
The 2024 Cadillac CT4 arrives with some crucial changes, updates, and new features compared to the preceding 2023 model year. That includes a new Red Accent Package for the 2024 CT4, CT4-V, and CT4-V Blackwing. Also, the 2024 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing offers three new special-edition packages: Arrival Edition, Elevation Edition, and Impact Edition. Each 2024 CT4-V Blackwing Mondrian Edition features a numbered serial plaque.
Both V-Series models get additional elements to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the V-Series sub-brand. They get a 20th Anniversary grille header decal and unique instrument cluster wake-up animation.
Here is everything that’s new and different on the 2024 Cadillac CT4-V and the CT4-V Blackwing.
The 2025 Cadillac CT4 debuts the sixth model year of the nameplate’s first generation. It brings only a few minor changes and updates, such as paint color changes for the CT4 and the CT4-V. Meanwhile, the 2025 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing represents the fourth model year for the high-performance sedan. A new limited-run variant, the Petit Pataud Edition, is part of Cadillac’s ongoing Collector Series portfolio.
The Cadillac CT4 rides on the GM Alpha 2 platform, with the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trims powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine. These models, which carry the 350T designation on the decklid and GM’s eight-speed automatic transmission, are rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B and GM 10-speed automatic transmission are optional on the Premium Luxury trim; this model wears the 500T badge and makes 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the L3B engine and ten-speed automatic transmission are standard on the CT4-V, where they’re rated at 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. All of these variants are available in both rear-wheel-drive and optional all-wheel-drive.
The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing runs the twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF4 gasoline engine, rated at 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. The GM six-speed manual transmission is standard, while the 10-speed automatic is optional—both exclusively power the rear wheels.

No surprise here. The exterior looks good as I’ve always enjoyed Cadillac’s design language. But the interior is rough and cheap looking. The small tacked on screen, scratchy hard plastics on the dash, door cards and nearly everywhere else. Even the higher trims are let down by the chevy/buick level plastics. I understand it’s their entry level model but the base XT4 has nicer materials than the CT4.
I briefly considered a used CT4 but ended up with an Audi A3. Definitely a better interior. Further, the greenhouse shape and roof line are looking dated on the CT4. The A3 has aged better. I agree that sedans are not dead, they just need to be done better by GM, who I believe is more than capable. GM needs to let the designs/performance be dictated by people who enjoy driving.
For me, it’s a technology problem. The 2024 CT4 doesn’t have any “killer app” over my 2014 ATS. The only developments in ten years are SuperCruise and android auto. SuperCruise is amazing tech, but it isn’t something that I would use even monthly, and android auto’s days are numbered at GM. Add in the fact that I can’t get a V6, and I’m just not inspired to buy a new cadillac.
This is not a surprise at all.
The rear end on the CT4 is just awful and the interior was completely outdated the minute it was revealed.
Driving Dynamics are best in class so it is really sad that GM dropped the ball so badly with the aesthetics on the CT4
The good news is that the rear end styling and the interior can be updated and should be done so ASAP!!!
The CT line needs a total redesign. It’s embarrassing enough that the budget SK brands have copied the lame vertical front marker lights . They look like overweight middleaged Malibus. Wakeup Mary .
As usual, no one knows about the CT4 as Cadillac doesn’t advertise it unless you are talking Blackwing.
Yes Indeed no surprise, not a great looking car inside or out and the powertrains should be the 3.6 NA V6 335 horse and the 6.2 NA LT1 V8 455 horse.
I think it is really good looking but maybe needs refreshing.
I’m sure my 2022 LT1 Camaro built on the same Alpha chassis was a bargain at $37k. The CT4 Blackwing with the same equivalent horsepower as the V8 Camaro would cost almost twice as much. I would need to upgrade to the 1LE package to make the Camaro handle as well, but most people don’t want the track suspension if it’s a daily driver. The Camaro wasn’t selling well, but it was selling much better than the CT4, yet GM axed the Camaro and the languishing CT4 is still struggling. Go figure??? I wish GM would have made the V6 1LE Camaro with the LF4 twin turbo, it would have been awesome! I loved my 2018 1LE V6, it just needed a little more power. The V8 makes the front end too heavy sacrificing handling. I imagine the CT4 Blackwing is the perfect combination of balance, handling and power!
Should have kept Saab as the premium GM brand world wide, expanded the range, and dropped Cadillac brand. With some investment, Saab was a far better brand to compete with Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc
The higher trims of the ct4 are highly praised yet cadillac doesn’t advertise this. The ct4 blacking has been called in some publications as one of the best sedans ever made. And caddy doesn’t mention it. They don’t advertise that they have this sedan or the ct5 and that is a shame. I have just a v trim ct4 and have never had a better car than this. Thought about trading it in took a SUV for a test drive and realized every vehicle will come up short to my ct4v.
No meaningful marketing, no auto shows, no sales, no brand recognition.
Marketed as a “small luxury sedan”, when they decide to market it in any form is a joke. This is not a luxury sedan. The ride is horrible, and I’d like to see 2 normal sized adults get into the back seat of this thing. Not going to happen. If this is an entry level sedan, then why is it out of reach for those wanting to enter that market.
I’ve driven full-sized Cadillac sedans since 2002 and currently have 2-CT6 sedans, a 2017 and a 2020. They are a luxury sedan that can seat 4 normal sized adults and have all the features that you want in a luxury sedan. The CT6 was killed to make room for this POS, Cadillac and GM made a huge mistake.
Not everyone and am sure the majority do not want to drive a full size barge , The CT5 and the CT4 fill that need and they are built on the wonderful performance Alpha chassis
Instead of Barra’s “all electric future” she should call the current state of gm “all uncompetitive future.”
