C7 Corvette Z06 Mysteriously Hits Tree During Leisurely Cruise: Video

Big engine up front and big power at the rear wheels is a staple of the C7 Corvette Z06. Properly applied, it can be a riot of a good time. However, without respect, the Corvette Z06 can very quickly catch out even highly experienced drivers. Now, we’re watching exactly that in the following viral video.
The video is only a few seconds long, but that’s plenty of time to utterly wreck this gorgeous C7 Corvette Z06. In the video, we see a pair of white C7 Vettes out for a leisurely cruise. The two Chevy sports cars are seen maneuvering around a long two-lane sweeper, taking their time while doing it.
As the video gets underway, we see one of the white C7s slowly approaching the second from the right lane. As soon as the first C7 Vette begins to pass, the rear end of the second steps out dramatically, causing the car to immediately mount the adjacent curb. After traveling along the grassy median, the front end of the C7 hits a tree, smashing the front end in and leaving the sports car in pieces.
It’s unclear if there were any injuries, but hopefully, everyone walked away unscathed.
Although the video doesn’t include any exhaust noise, there are a few clues as to what happened. Just before the Z06 begins to slide, we see a puff of exhaust smoke from the round central exhaust pipes, likely indicating that the driver pinned the throttle at that moment, spinning the rear tires and causing the accident. More than likely, the driver was getting a little playful with the other Corvette driver, aiming to race ahead as the first Vette passed. Unfortunately, the end result was one very nasty run-in with a tree.

Indeed, with 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, the C7 Corvette Z06 is not to be trifled with. Be wary of the long skinny pedal when it’s connected to the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine.

In Corvette owners school at Spring Mountain, also called Ron Fellows School, our only instructions regarding traction control were – never turn it off!
Honestly, there was one time we did, on the wet asphalt, with an instructor in car, we did donuts until dizzy, the real lesson was how Weather Mode helped car stay safe. Anyway, these cars are so powerful, traction control required.
Well, after the 3rd commercial, I lost interest in the video.
Inexperienced driver turned all the “nannies ” OFF and this is what happens. EVERY TIME!
What a dumb sh@t!
Wouldn’t doubt if the old original tires were on it as well. Many people make the mistake of thinking the old tires on their performance car are okay and safe because “they have good tread”. Nope
These people think they’re doing themselves a favor by turning TC off for some reason. When in fact 98% of them will never have the balls to drive in a way that would activate it on the street.
Hmmm. Instant torque, lots of power, TC off and a “less than experienced” driver = this.
More horsepower than brains!
Idiots like this keep body shops busy all over America.
It is called comp mode. It is test button that gives the driver control but not all can control it.
He stepped on the gas spun the tires and lost it.
It was from a liberal underground working out of Venezuela. After fueling up at the local Exxon mobile station he was quietly pleasuring himself when right at the moment of climax the Pinkos took control of the car and smashed it into a tree. Taking one more Ice powered vehicle off the road. You noticed the car was turning left!
No “mystery” Jonathan you explained how it happened.
