What started as an April Fool’s joke is now ready to hit the local trails with the creation of this one-of-a-kind C6 Corvette Trail Boss – and it’s currently up for sale in Illinois. Back in 2022, we shared a fun set of renderings showing off a Chevy Corvette Trail Boss, reimagining the iconic sports car with a lift and rugged off-road gear. It was intended as a laugh, but one determined C6 owner took the idea to heart and built a real-life version of this off-road sports car.
This off-road-ready C6 Corvette recently popped up on Facebook Marketplace, as reported by Autoblog, and is now seeking a new owner. The listing offers some insight into the car’s journey, stating, “I sold it to a YouTuber back in March then bought it back. Then I held a giveaway on it recently and the winner chose the cash option. So now it’s for sale again!”
This Corvette Trail Boss was previously featured in a video from CalebCars, where the lifted sports car is seen tackling dunes, navigating trails, splashing through some mud, and engaging in all manner of off-road adventures. It makes for quite the sight:
Highlight features include a substantial lift, headlined by Fox shocks with remote reservoirs. The car also rides on Fuel off-roader wheels wrapped in 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T tires, complemented by a winch, a light bar, and an aftermarket hitch receiver. The requisite Trail Boss graphics can be found on the fenders.
Under the hood, the C6 retains its naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LS3 engine, which delivers 430 horsepower and 424 pound-feet of torque in factory guise. Output is sent to the rear wheels through a GM six-speed manual transmission.
While off-road-ready sports cars aren’t entirely unheard of (we’ve certainly seen our fair share), this Corvette Trail Boss stands out for its cleanliness and the quality of its modifications. The vehicle is currently listed with an asking price of $23,000 and is located in Danville, Illinois.

Built by and for rural yahoos.
At that price, and several sales / returns, etc. what is the catch for what seems like a decent price on this? And is it street legal? It does show a rear license plate, but that is not a guarantee of the ability to get it registered for actual street driving.
Has to sell it to pay the HIGH TAXES in ILLINOIS!
Just…plain…stupid!
The article claims “it’s no joke” and they are correct. It is however Absolutely STUPID and INSANE. What MORON would do this to a Corvette, maybe a Mental Deficient Retard.
A rally capable Vette is awesome. Why so salty?
