The GM Authority Take

In spite of Buick Envision sales starting out the year well, they fell a bit in Q2 2024 but still managed a third-place showing. Better yet, combining sales with the Cadillac XT4 put GM in second place overall. The Envision may be impacted by a generational changeover as units of the mid-cycle update began arriving at dealerships in July. Interestingly, that happened just weeks ahead of scheduled production for the 2025 Buick Envision starting on August 5th, with the refreshed 2024 Buick Envision getting a very short model year.

As The General works through all of that, the refreshed 2024 model may help the small premium crossover regain sales and then some.

Refreshed 2024 Buick Envision Avenir

About Buick Envision

The 2023 Buick Envision represents the third model year of the crossover’s second generation. It remains essentially unchanged from the 2022 Buick Envision, save for a few updates to the color palette and equipment, including new standard equipment added to the Avenir trim level.

In North America, the Envision continues to be powered solely by GM’s turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The four-cylinder is mated to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive optional.

This past spring, GM officially unveiled the refreshed 2024 Buick Envision, which features an updated exterior and a new interior, as well as a 30-inch diagonal infotainment screen and more standard safety features.

The 2024 Buick Envision lineup now includes Preferred, Sport Touring (ST), and Avenir trim levels. A first for the nameplate, ST is a new standalone trim that replaces the mid-tier Essence trim and the Sport Touring Package previously offered on Preferred and Essence trims. However, the ST trim does not offer any performance upgrades.

While the 2024 Envision won’t offer Super Cruise after all due to unspecified constraints, the Technology Package I will now be included as standard on all 2024 Envision trim levels. This package features the Bose Premium nine-speaker audio system and a Head-Up Display. Additionally, the 2024 Envision does offer many new standard safety features.

The 2024 Envision loses two paint colors, Rich Garnet Metallic and Sapphire Metallic, replaced by Calypso Blue Metallic and Smokey Amethyst Metallic. Check out the 2024 Envision paint colors and interior colors, along with three wheels available, each tied to a respective trim level.

For the first time, the 2024 Buick Envision offers standard all-wheel drive in the U.S. Specifically, it’s a twin-clutch AWD system. The turbo LSY engine will remain the sole powertrain available in the 2024 Envision.

  1. Yes GM was playing games with the model year and the start of production. A self/inflicted wound, as usual.

    1. Does GM even want Buick to survive in the USA? I mention this because roughly half of all Buick dealers dumped their franchises when Buick tried to force questionable and very expensive “upgrades” on dealerships. The two Buick dealerships in my county that had been in existence for decades both bailed out. I have absolutely no confidence that GM management knows what they are doing.

  2. Nice vehicle, but overpriced with a face not even a mother could love (the 2024 model year Envision).

    1. I bought my 23 in December because I cannot stand the ugly front end of the redesigned model! I would have liked some of the newer technologies for sure (mostly the removed items), but I like mine, if only it had 80 more HP!

  3. It is kind of hard to sell Envisions when your dealers don’t have any to sell.

    1. I bet they wouldn’t have that problem if they were built in the United States.

  5. Buick is becoming a dying brand

    1. Buick sells more cars in the US than Acura, Infiniti, Volvo, Lincoln, Genesis, Maserati, Alfa-Romeo, and JLR. They only sell a few thousand less than Audi. If Buick is dying, then these other brands mentioned here are already in the morgue.

  6. I don’t suppose the delay in exports had anything to do with it?

  7. I would blame the FUGLY exterior redesign across the lineup. They all wear the same FUGLY face and the bodies have no character. It doesn’t matter how good the vehicle is or isn’t, if you don’t like what it looks like on the outside.

    1. I couldn’t agree more. Ford tried a similar look with the Escape with elevated headlights and low grille only to return to more linear headlight and top of grille alignment. I get that they wanted to be different, but this doesn’t seem to be it. This thing has no where near the class of the 2016 Avista show car that still holds its own.

  8. Not a huge fan of the front end design. I’ll keep my 2023 Avenir Envision for now. Until it comes with super cruise, then I may have to consider the newer model. I do get all kinds of compliments on it though.
