Just a few days ago, GM Authority reported that the all-new 2025 GMC Terrain had been officially unveiled in the United States, signaling the arrival of the Big Red crossover’s third-generation and the introduction of a revised exterior design and a bevy of safety and technology goodies. With that in mind, the third-gen Terrain has also been announced in Canada.
Starting with the exterior design, the 2025 Terrain features a pickup-inspired outline with a more athletic stance. The grille boasts a truck-like attitude, and connects the reworked C-shaped headlamps to the lower fog lights. The all-new crossover will also offer a two-tone roof option in either black or gray, a first for the GMC Terrain.
Moving to the interior, the cabin is underscored by a standard 15-inch diagonal Premium GMC Infotainment System with Google built-in, as well as an 11-inch-diagonal driver information center. A suite of more than 15 active safety and driver assistance features is available as well, including Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, up to eight available camera views. 5G on-board Wi-Fi, Rainsense wipers, and heated wiper park are also offered.
In regard to powertrain, the 2025 GMC Terrain will continue to employ the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, rated 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Of course, improvements in fuel economy are expected, as per GM Authority coverage. The GM eight-speed automatic transmission handles the shifting duties, while Canadian-market Terrain units are equipped with an AWD drivetrain as standard.
Finally, the third-generation Terrain will launch in Elevation form later this year, while AT4 and Denali models will follow next year as 2026 models.
“The 2025 GMC Terrain builds on GMC’s strengths and offers our latest, premium technology and safety features, while bringing a fresh, bold design to our two-row SUV,” former Buick and GMC Global Vice President Duncan Aldred claimed in a prepared statement. “With the next-gen Terrain and updated 2025 Yukon both slated to launch later this year, the entire GMC SUV lineup will be refreshed by year end.”

Such a pathetic, sad little engine. Where’s the optional upgrade? Where’s the Hybrid?
seriously I own a 2024 Terrian and this vehicle has plenty of power its far from sad dont understand where you dreamed that up obviously you have never driven one
Like most internet forums, most of the people have no idea what they’re talking about. These guys will love to trash the product without ever having used it once. The current engine is fine for power/torque and a majority of consumers agree, hence GM stopped offering the 2 other engines that they had introduced back in 2018.
With that being said, calling out the lack of hybrid powertrain is still totally valid. Urban drivers could save a lot of gas $$$ with hybrid technology (mild or standard or plug-in). GM has the hybrid tech, they have offered it in past products, but they have no hybrid options today in any product sold in North America. For urban driving, hybrid offers big value to the customer. I notice so many RAV4 hybrids and CR-V hybrids on the road today that I can’t believe that GM does not want to compete with that.
Personally, the lack of hybrid option is my biggest disappointment with the new Terrain. All the other updates are okay or great, but still no hybrid is a real bummer in 2024.
The gmc terrain is a great vehicle but I feel still it’s underpowered with the 1.5 engine they should at least give u an option to order a 2. 0 L engine if it’s available in the higher trims just saying !!!
wrong the 1.5L engine is very powerful and adequate for this vehicle we love ours
“Canadian-market Terrain units are equipped with an AWD drivetrain as standard.”
So they will not offer the FWD with CVT in Canada. I’m sure the Equinox will still have it available, but damn GM is always skimping on the selection they offer outside the USA…
