A currently-exclusive new trim level, the AT4 Ultimate, will debut with the launch of the 2025 GMC Yukon, serving as a premium variant of the SUV’s rugged AT4 trim, just as the Denali Ultimate is a premium variant of the luxurious Denali.
The 2025 GMC Yukon also replaces the SLE and SLT trim levels with the new Elevation trim, with commentary on the model year’s refresh, various trims and the AT4 Ultimate provided in the following video by GM Authority executive editor Alex Luft:
The AT4 Ultimate is currently only offered for the 2025 GMC Yukon, though it might to appear on other models in time, and its launch coincides with The General’s salute to the 5th anniversary of the off-road-focused AT4 sub-brand. Full details about the 2025 Yukon AT4 Ultimate haven’t been released, but GM says the following items will be included at a minimum:
- Front skid plate and 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires
- Four-corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension able to raise the vehicle up to 2 inches to improve ground clearance when off-road
- Luxurious Obsidian Rush interior with three rows of full-grain leather seating and Ash Burl wood accents
- New unique leather seat style, featuring open pore wood décor, and leather rim steering wheel accents
- Standard 6.2L V8 L87 engine, optional 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine
Some of these features are already included on the Yukon AT4, including the following (RPO codes in parenthesis):
- Front skid plate (RC1)
- 20-inch 6-spoke machined aluminum wheels with Carbon Gray Metallic accents (NZH)
- 275/60R20SL all-terrain tires (QAE)
- Optional Air Ride Adaptive suspension (F47)
In comparison to the “standard” AT4, the AT4 Ultimate will get a more luxurious cabin with richer materials, similar to the Denali Ultimate compared to the Denali. However, the AT4 and AT4 Ultimate will get 20-inch wheels, and no 22-inch or 24-inch wheel options such as the Denali trims offer.
The 2024 GMC Yukon AT4 was available with the $3,945 AT4 Premium Package (RPO code RGM) or the $5,905 AT4 Premium Plus Package (RPO code PEH). GM Authority expects their contents to be standard in the 2025 AT4 Ultimate. For reference purposes, the AT4 Premium Package includes:
- HD Surround Vision (UV2)
- Head-Up Display (UV6)
- Rear Pedestrian Alert (UKK)
- Panoramic power sunroof (C3U)
- Power-retractable assist steps with perimeter lighting (B3L)
Meanwhile, the AT4 Premium Plus Package includes:
- HD Surround Vision (UV2)
- Head-Up Display (UV6)
- Rear Pedestrian Alert (UKK)
- Panoramic power sunroof (C3U)
- Power-retractable assist steps with perimeter lighting (B3L)
- Max Trailering Package (NHT)
- Air Ride Adaptive suspension (F47)
- Electronic limited-slip differential (G96)
- Active Response 4WD
The AT4 Ultimate trim further builds on the success of GMC’s AT4 and Denali sub-brands, which now represent more than half of the brand’s sales across all nameplates.

The 2025 GMC Yukon gets a whole slew of additional new and updated features for its mid-cycle refresh, including fresh exterior styling, an overhauled cockpit headlined by the new-for-2025 16.8-inch diagonal Premium GMC Infotainment Center, and new technology features including safety tech such as (but not limited to) Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Side Bicyclist Alert, and Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking.
The 2025 Yukon AT4 Ultimate is motivated as standard by the aforementioned 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine developing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, with optional availability of the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax cranking out 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.
The 2025 model year continues to be underpinned by the GM T1 platform. Production will take place at GM’s Arlington plant in Texas, with all trim levels arriving at the same time late in 2024. Additional details will become available closer to the kick-off of production.

This is not bad looking for a family hauler.
I despise GMs powertrains. I can afford one of these but at 6.2 is absolutely worthless for most folks. Awful fuel economy and requires premium. People want these rides because they look cool for daily drivers. It’s insane to me that the only company putting out engines that blend power and better fuel economy while not requiring premium is Ford.
