2025 GMC Savana Drops Audio System Upgrade

The AM/FM stereo with MP3 player and USB port (RPO code U0H), previously offered as an audio system upgrade, will be dropped from the 2025 GMC Savana van along with several other features, according to the latest information on the model.

This leaves the AM/FM stereo unit with an auxiliary jack and two front-door speakers (RPO code U0F) as the only audio system currently offered on the 2025 GMC Savana.

Since August 2023, the AM/FM stereo with MP3 player and USB port was already unavailable to order on the 2024 GMC Savana. As mentioned above, the 2025 Savana will lose a list of features, including all of the following (RPO codes in parenthesis):

  • AM/FM stereo with MP3 player and USB port (U0H)
  • Bluetooth connectivity for phone (UPF)
  • SiriusXM Radio (U2K)
  • Steering wheel controls (W1Y)
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel (NP5)
  • Wi-Fi hotspot capable (VV4)
  • Audio system USB port (USR)

As a result, there will be no CD player, Bluetooth connectivity, or USB port in the 2025 GMC Savana. Owners or users of these vehicles who want to listen to music or receive phone calls from an external device will need to order the LPO or dealer-installed Bluetooth Connectivity Kit (RPO code VUL), or use third-party connectivity adaptors linking to an FM station or use the auxiliary port to connect an audio device.

Additionally, the second 12-volt battery option (RPO code TP3) will be dropped from the 2025 GMC Savana. This option enabled the use of the battery with the vehicle switched off without draining the primary battery and potentially interfering with vehicle starting.

When it comes to design, the GMC Savana is configured for several different roles, with variants consisting of the Express Cargo, the Express Passenger, and the Express Cutaway. Engine choices include the naturally aspirated 4.3L V6 LV1 gasoline engine rated at 276 horsepower and 298 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine providing 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque.

The 2025 GMC Savana uses the GMT 610 platform for structure.  Production will kick off on October 7th, 2024 at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri. Notably, the Express Cutaway is also produced by Navistar at a separate facility in Ohio.

In 2026 they will discontinue air conditioning and power steering. Just go ahead and put this van out of it’s misery and discontinue it GM.

Regardless of all the negative comments about how old and outdated this van is, that over the years better engines transmissions brakes have found their way into what has proved to be a very reliable serviceable vehicle. I also wish it had a better radio, super cruise, lane maintenance and some freshened appointments. Hopefully GM will add some of these features in the future and produce more of these vans. The fact.remains this is one of the best vehicles GM has ever produced for versatility and reliability and still is more attractive than all the other vans currently in production.

No argument there! Our 2001 Savana SLT van now has 192,000 miles on it, many of those miles pulling our 23″ RV trailer from Indiana all over the country, from California to Virginia – Currently in Colorado. It has leather seating, front & rear air, wrapped steering wheel, AM/FM, tape player, CD player, DVD player with two overhead screens, trailer package, etc. All of this straight from the factory. Oh, and we also pull our boat all over Indiana, too. 350 engine, 4 speed trans. Love this van!

I wish GMC got off this style of cargo van and went with more of the transit style like Ford and Chrysler did they are dating themselves with this style I thought GMC was better equipped to change from the low style to a more Box type cargo van I think GMC will maybe change but I think it’s to late in the game.

What GM has done is so sad. I love my 2018 passenger van but do not want this stripped out Bluetooth leather wrapped steering wheel, no satellite option and steering wheel controls van. Ford vans are ugly and the bench seating is tighter but that is all I have left. Plus dealers cannot make a normal order for a van and it will take a year to get. How sad!
