As the final model year of the sedan’s ninth generation, with the nameplate’s future uncertain, the 2025 Chevy Malibu offers only a handful of minor changes and updates. No colors were retired for the 2025 year, but one exterior paint color, Night Shade Metallic, was added to the palette. Now GM Authority is looking closer at the Night Shade option.
Tagged with color code GXF and touch-up paint number WA-132H, Night Shade Metallic is one of seven paint colors available on the 2025 Chevy Malibu, with the full lineup on offer consisting of the following:
- Lakeshore Blue Metallic (GXP)
- Mineral Gray Metallic (G5D)
- Mosaic Black Metallic (GB8)
- Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
- Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD)
- Summit White (GAZ)
- Night Shade Metallic (GXF – new for 2025)
Night Shade Metallic is available on all trim levels of the 2025 Chevy Malibu, including the entry-level LS, mid-range RS and 1LT, and range-topping 2LT. It is offered as a no-charge option on all trims and can be ordered in conjunction with all interior colorways.
As a reminder, the interior colorways offered on the 2025 Chevy Malibu include those listed below, while available upholstery materials include premium cloth and perforated leather:
- Dark Atmosphere / Light Wheat
- Dark Atmosphere / Medium Ash Gray
- Jet Black
As GM Authority revealed back in May, pricing for the 2025 Chevy Malibu includes small increases compared to the MSRPs of the 2024 model year. The prices range from a starting MSRP of $26,995 for the entry-level LS trim, and range up to a maximum base price of $32,695 for the 2LT. The official configurator for the model is available on the Chevrolet site, so that you can see the costs for various trim and option combinations.
The 2025 Malibu is motivated by one engine, specifically the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LFV gasoline engine developing 163 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
The Chevy Malibu continues to ride on the GM E2 platform for its final model year. Production of the sedan takes place at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City.

Reminds me of Sable Metallic on 2015 Malibus
Cadillac color Midnight Sky code GXF. On Cadillac, you have to pay extra for it - the lunacy of it all!
Just another boring color that's normal practice for GM.
What's the point. GM put the nail in the coffin when they killed the 2.0T in the car.
fred96ws6 , I agree with you, But I will all go back to when the 3.6 V6 was offered and they killed it , when nail on the coffin started !
What happened to next generation ? Will there ever be a changed look to the Malibu and With bigger engine with higher power ? Who cares of the new colors on an old Malibu !
Correct! I was wondering the same thing! The car shown is not a 2025 model. GM made design changes to the 25 model
I like that color! Wish I could've gotten that shade on my 24 Canyon Denali.
Looks like black to me. Most all cars today seem like they paint ‘em white or gray or black. Just look around at any line of cars in traffic or parking lot and you see. I’m not saying all cars. Just most.
How impressive that the Malibu has as many color options as the Cadillac CT whatever it’s called.
Night Shade is dark Blue or Dark Cherry red or Dark Purple ???
