GM Authority has learned that the 2025 Chevy Express will no longer offer the previously available audio system upgrade – the AM/FM stereo with MP3 player and USB port (RPO code U0H) – along with several other features and options that are being dropped.
This means that the only audio system on deck for the 2025 Chevy Express is the AM/FM stereo unit with an auxiliary jack and two front-door speakers (RPO code U0F).
The AM/FM stereo with MP3 player and USB port was already unavailable to order on the 2024 Chevy Express since August 2023. The complete list of features that will be dropped for the 2025 model year includes the following:
- AM/FM stereo with MP3 player and USB port (U0H)
- Bluetooth connectivity for phone (UPF)
- SiriusXM Radio (U2K)
- Steering wheel controls (W1Y)
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel (NP5)
- Wi-Fi hotspot capable (VV4)
- Audio system USB port (USR)
In practical terms, this means that the 2025 Chevy Express will no longer have a CD player, Bluetooth connectivity, or USB port. Owners/operators will need to resort to the LPO or dealer-installed Bluetooth Connectivity Kit (RPO code VUL), or third-party connectivity adaptors that link to an FM station in order to listen to music and receive phone calls from an external device or connect an audio device through the auxiliary port.
While this is the largest change to the 2025 Express compared to the 2024 model year, the second 12-volt battery option (RPO code TP3) – which could be used when the vehicle was not running without affecting the ability to start the vehicle – has also been discontinued.
As a reminder, the Chevy Express is offered in multiple unique configurations, including the Express Cargo, the Express Passenger, and the Express Cutaway, all of which function in a specific role. Engine choices include the naturally aspirated 4.3L V6 LV1 gasoline engine, which develops 276 horsepower and 298 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, which cranks out 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque.
The 2025 Chevy Express is underpinned by the GMT 610 platform, and production is scheduled to begin on October 7th, 2024, at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri. Notably, the Express Cutaway is produced by Navistar at a separate facility in Ohio.

Might be a sign that the general is finally getting ready to put it out to pasture.
GM is good at raising prices and drop items.
Just plain Stupid!!! How much is gm saving by doing this? With just about every state outlawing hand held phones while driving, gm removes bluetooth capability from there vans.
Is this the last vehicle for sale that still has a traditional “radio”?
No Mustang competitor….
No Wrangler/Bronco competitor….
No Maverick competitor……
Uncompetitive full-size vans….
But you can have any CUV EV you want!
How some top people at GM can keep their jobs is beyond me🙄
Because GM outsells Ford and Stellantis and is more profitable than either.
Outsells them thanks to vehicles made in Korea and China, more profitable because they gouge their customers more, and a steady stock price propped up by share buybacks instead of investing in new product.
You do realize customers can chose to buy a vehicle from other OEMs, right? How would GM price gouging increase their profit share when we’ve already seen Stellantis take a huge profit hit related to vehicle pricing? If the vehicles were too expensive in customer’s eyes, they wouldn’t be selling any.
Unfortunately, that is what a lot of traditional gm customers are doing.
If they drop anything else, there won’t be much left >>>>> they clearly want to kill the full size van … crazy! I would have bought my 4th one, three years ago if only they had them available. Wonder how many sales they lost? Had to be very profitable, since that gen was 26 years old. Still was the best looking van. I am done with GM after being loyal for 54 years.
gm’s market share has fallen, the showrooms are bare, most non body-on-frame products are made outside of the US, but they are a woke company and their DEI scores are through the roof!
I would have bought one several years ago too but they weren’t available. They got a woman at the helm and women don’t like big boxy things unless they are big and round.
Really GM ? Instead of offering a AM/FM w/CD player and Sat Radio which could include an option for a factory Nav/System you drop everything. Ford has gone EV-Van crazy, Dodge/Ram is not where a lot want to be either. Listen to your customers and offer the 1500 series with the 4.3 V6, freshen up the interior like the Beauville was about 30 or so years ago. The public is about done with the SUV insanity … and while we’re wishing, do this in a short wheel base like you did before the Astro came into being. You won’t be able to meet demand. Not everyone wants a 2500 series van, let alone a 3500 series van. I’m a past Astro customer, had the pleasure of owning 4 of them. We want a van with a nicer interior, it will sell.
yes! I would have loved to consider a short wheelbase or an Astro. Ended up buying a 2023 Traverse as my dealer didn’t want to sell me an Express. (waited over a year) >>>
Considering how many of these are sold to fleets (who don’t care about the audio) or for conversions (who are going to replace with something custom), this isn’t surprising.
I’ve converted my first two vans and the next two were conversion vans with nice Chev radio/cds. Using the standard equipment units helped the converter keep the cost down. They probably just added extra speakers in back. At least in the old days when Conversions were and incredible bargain, and a lot for the money. (not like recent years) My last van was a 1996 Express and I only paid an extra $4000 over msrp for a conversion package I spec’d, including 2 leather captains seats up front. It lasted 25 yrs for me, and now I wish I had not sold it, as I could not replace it.
What about passenger versions of the Express? Just 2 speakers for the front? Dumb. Or are they discontinuing the passenger version? Curious.
Sounds like MaryJoe is killing it. Too bad, it’s a good machine at a good price.
Wonder if these changes affect the cut away version, dual battery option plays a big role when being upfit to an ambulance
or other types of utility vehicles. It would be a mistake by GM to not offer the option
