Watch A Rugged C5 Corvette Venture Off-Road: Video

Back in 2022, we posted a rendering of a Chevy Corvette Trail Boss, ruffling a few feathers along the way thanks to our vision of an off-road-ready C8. Of course, that post was made on April 1st, and we were just having a little bit of fun. Nevertheless, it looks like the folks who own this particular C5 Corvette is taking the off-road sports car thing seriously, posting a series of videos showing the C5 romping around on the local trails.
Naturally, there will inevitably be some folks out there that will cry abuse when seeing this C5 tearing it up off-road. They might have a point, but apparently, the car was totaled prior to its off-road excursions, so really, these folks are wringing out the last bit of fun.
The videos are brief, showing the C5 Corvette bashing around on narrow dirt trails and slithering through the trees. We see the Vette equipped with a few items to help it in its off-road journey, including a pair of recovery tracks behind the seats, a shovel and other tools mounted on the hood, and a jerry can around the front driver’s-side quarter panel (or at least where the panel should be). The driver’s-side headlight was removed as well, possibly for cooling purposes. Or maybe it just got smashed.

With a stock ride height, this C5 Corvette isn’t exactly the ideal off-roader, but it seems to handle the dirt trails without too much of an issue, with the driver putting their foot down around corners in a spray of loose soil.
The next video is a bit different, and we see the driver traversing across a stream, the suspension working hard to keep the car level across the rocks. Luckily, it looks like the Vette handles that challenge as well, and the driver celebrates with a little oversteer action around a corner.

Many people turn these into dune buggy’s. Also large go cars ad the chassis is very caps le and stiff.
that ain’t no trailer queen
Stupid.
Q. What does a Darwin Award look like?
A. A plastic jerry can, MacGyvered a half inch from an exposed wheel and just ahead of the driver…
Beyond Stupidity and Ignorance. Absolutely ‘No Respect’ for not only a Sports Car, but a True American Sports Car. Hey Buddy, no insults intended, just the Truth – ‘Get a Life’!
Ridiculously unnecessary and pathetic
I agree with many of the comments. Destroying an iconic sports car like that to get likes/subscribes, really shows how well they were brought up to NOT appreciate things. I am a true car lover and would never do that! That’s why they have side by sides, jeeps, broncos, and old K body blazers.
It is likely the iconic sports car had 6 figure miles on it. It need more work than it is worth. Many cars like this get parted out.
I own a clean C5 and see little on this car to make a restoration car.
That was certainly driving with abandon but you can take your Vette into pretty rugged areas with care. I ended up with my C8 on the top of a ridgeline a few miles up a Weyerhaeuser logging road in southern Arkansas for the April solar eclipse. The Jeep I was traveling with was certainly much faster for those 4 miles. The C8 was much faster and comfortable for the other 2,000. Careful dancing around the potholes, rocks and logs was required, but nary a scratch. Images of the Vette next to the Jeep on a rock crusted clearing are priceless (solar images are awesome too). The dirt washed off.
Well I have a question for our more knowledgeable members. Has anyone tried to change tire sizes or downsize their wheels in order to create a softer ride by increasing the sidewall height?
