After more than three years passing by since the last change to the Onix range in Argentina, General Motors has just launched the updated 2025 Chevy Onix line in the South American country.
The automaker officially launched the updated 2025 Chevy Onix in Argentina, announcing a new configuration for the Onix five-door hatchback and Onix Plus sedan variants of the popular subcompact, and looking to improve its positioning in the country. With the announcement, GM confirms that the entire 2025 Onix lineup for the Argentine market will come standard with the model’s more powerful and efficient turbocharged engine.
“Chevrolet Onix family has been a great success in the regional market since its launch in 2012, due to its excellent price-product ratio and the versatility it offers to family users,” said Communications Department of GM Argentina. “The new Onix was a pioneer in the car B-segment in offering a three-cylinder turbo engine, which will now come as standard across the entire model line in the country,” the company added.
As such, the main novelty of the updated 2025 Chevy Onix in Argentina is that the turbocharged 1.0L I3 engine producing 116 horsepower and 122 pound-feet of torque is now found in all variants – available locally with in LT, LTZ, Premier and RS trim levels. The turbo mill replaces the naturally aspirated 1.2L engine and can be coupled to either the five-speed manual transmission or the six-speed automatic.
Aesthetically, the 2025 Chevy Onix arrives in Argentina with exactly the same original design as the second-generation model launched in 2019, receiving only minor trim changes such as new alloy wheels in some versions. The interior of the updated 2025 Onix line features the addition of OnStar technology as standard and new eco-friendly leather seat upholstery.
The updated 2025 Chevy Onix lineup is now available for sale at the brand’s dealer network in Argentina, where GM hopes to take advantage of the recent start of normalization in vehicle imports to improve the positioning of the Brazilian-made Onix and make it once again one of the most competitive in its class. The base price of the 2025 Onix in Argentina is 24,178,900 pesos, about $26,110 USD at the current exchange rate.

As much as some, or the many, may disagree I think the GM suits should make this model available in the U.S.. It’s absurd, I believe, that the Nissan Versa and the Mitsu Mirage are the only two small automobiles for sale in the US. And please don’t mention that small automobiles are not cost effective for US manufacturers. They would sell a ton of this type machine AND be successful at it.
The Chevy Trax is a fine concept and it sells well, but there are those who would prefer a small sedan or hatch to a CUV. I know I’m not alone in thinking this way. Peace…🙏♐
Car companies offers cheap cars everywhere in the World… but not for North America ! It’s like they were saying this : Pay suckers !!!
