Honda has released a safety recall for a limited number of 2024 Honda Prologue units. The issue is related to a defect in the vehicles’ right front lower control arm. The Honda Prologue is assembled by General Motors at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, and shares several components with the Chevy Blazer EV, which is produced alongside the Prologue at the same facility. Both the Honda Prologue and the Chevy Blazer EV are based on the GM Ultium platform. The Chevy Blazer EV is now facing a recall to address the same issue.
The problem: Affected units of the 2024 Honda Prologue may be equipped with a right front lower control arm that contains a manufacturing defect. This defect could result in the component fracturing.
The hazards: if the right front lower control arm does fracture while the vehicle is in use, it may result in a loss of vehicle control, thus increasing the potential for a crash.
The fix: to address this issue, it is recommended that vehicles are inspected at a certified dealer, which will then replace the right front lower control arm as necessary. The repairs will be provided free of charge to the vehicle owner. The repair is expected to take roughly 30 minutes to complete.
Affected components: this recall addresses an issue with the right front lower control arm.
Affected vehicles: this recall affects the 2024 Honda Prologue. However, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV, which is mechanically similar to the Honda Prologue, is currently facing a similar recall for the right front lower control arm due to a manufacturing defect that could lead to the component fracturing.
Number of affected vehicles: it’s estimated that this recall affects 39 units of the 2024 Honda Prologue. In a separate recall, an estimated 83 units of the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV have been recalled for the same issue.
Owners should: Honda will notify owners of affected vehicles and provide instructions to make an appointment at their local Honda dealer to address this issue. Owners who are unsure if their vehicle is affected by this recall can visit the company’s recall website and search by typing in their VIN.
