UAW Endorses Kamala Harris For U.S. President

The United Auto Workers (UAW) labor union has endorsed Kamala Harris for U.S. President. The UAW previously endorsed President Biden for reelection prior to Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 race on July 21st. Harris is the only Democratic presidential candidate under consideration as the party heads into an official nomination vote.
Per a report from Automotive News, UAW President Shawn Fain spoke with Kamala Harris by phone last week, stating that the vice president had a record “of delivering for the working class,” going on to state that Harris “will stand shoulder to shoulder with us in our war on corporate greed.”
Back in January, the UAW endorsed President Biden for election, but according to a report from Reuters, the UAW executive board met previously to discuss concerns over Biden’s ability to defeat Donald Trump in November. A large number of UAW members live in Michigan, a critical battleground state where both Biden and Trump have made campaign appearances in the past.
The relationship between UAW President Fain and Republican nominee Trump has been highly contentious, with Fain saying during a conference in July that “it’s clear that Donald Trump in the White House would be a complete disaster for the working class.” During the recent Republican National Convention, Trump said that Fain should be “fired immediately,” criticizing the union for failing to stop Chinese automakers from building factories in Mexico to sell vehicles in the U.S.
By contrast, the UAW has historically had a far better relationship with the Democratic Party. During the union’s strike in 2023, Biden became the first sitting president to walk a picket line after he joined GM workers in Michigan amid a union walkout. The strike resulted in significantly improved labor contracts, including a 25-percent wage increase.

Of course, even if all the auto jobs are moving to Mexico. That union has done nothing to retain jobs in the U.S.
Ely,
Jobs are moving out of the U.S. no matter what; union or no union.
The U.S. can’t compete when other countries pay a couple dollars a day, no benefits, endanger their workers, have child labor, and pollute the air, ground, and water.
There need to be universally accepted, global rules and laws for business, industry & employment to level the playing field.
But no low-cost country would ever agree to that since it would completely eliminate their advantage.
Sorry jobs of UAW plants are moving not the non union auto plants
C8.R
Show me the proof/stats to support your assertion.
I work at a NON-union Tier 1 auto parts supplier.
Our company announced in March that they are closing our facility. And we were/are the most productive/efficient of all our plants. We were/are the only facility in the black.
Congrats F*””‘head Fain, you just endorsed your membership out of a job. I know a lot of USW members who won’t vote for her.
What, he should have endorsed Trump? Who’s former Team developed Project 2025 which dismantles unions?
Maybe it’s time you stopped believing his endless lies.
Wow. It’s crazy. Keep voting yourself out of a job and your country. The only lies I see is the current admin telling you that the economy is doing fine and inflation is down lol. Have you been to the grocery store lately? Ha you are being hoodwinked sir
Cadillac man complaining about inflation? How ironic!
Fact, during Trump presidency, more than 2.7m jobs were lost. Since Biden has been president, more than 14m jobs have been added.
Try educating yourself versus being hoodwinked by your cult leader.
Project 2025 has been proven to be fake and not associated to Trump. Go gaslight somewhere else.
The union president will vote for the installed Democrat candidate.
The union members will largely support Trump.
