Ford dominated the weekend during the NTI Townsville 500 on July 5th and 6th, 2024, doing battle up front while the Chevy Camaro teams could only sit back and watch as its rival in the Australian Supercars Championship swept both Race 13 and Race 14 of the 2024 season.
In Race 13, which took place on July 5th, 2024, the highest-finishing Bow Tie competitor managed to pull off a podium finish behind a pair of Ford Mustang GT racers. Will Brown, driver of the No. 87 Camaro, started the race 13th on the grid and had a long line of cars to pick off in front of him. Brown, currently in the championship lead, was mired in the pack for most of the race. He fought back to eighth place before his first pit stop.
Brown then elected to pit opposite the leaders for the second stop, overtaking several more cars during the cycle before soldiering into third place. He finished 4.68 seconds behind race winner Cam Waters in the No. 6 Mustang and Chaz Mostert in the No. 25 Mustang. Brown was also the sole Bow Tie racer to finish in the top five, surrounded by a sea of Fords.
In Race 14, Jack le Brocq led Chevy’s efforts with a fourth-place finish behind an all-Ford podium. Le Brocq’s No. 09 Camaro started on the pole, but he got off to a slow start, stacking up the field and opening the door for Cam Waters’ No. 6 Mustang, Thomas Randle’s No. 55 Mustang, and Will Davison’s No. 17 Mustang to get by.

The rest of his race was up-and-down as he tried to recover from his mediocre start. He put up a fight against Waters in the closing laps but fell in behind him, and ultimately fell victim to the faster Fords as he plummeted to fourth place toward the end. Up front, Matt Payne guided the No. 19 Mustang to victory, followed by Waters and Mostert.
Despite the lackluster performance at Townsville, Brown retains the drivers’ points lead ahead of second-place Broc Feeney, driver of the No. 88 Camaro, and Mostert, who is currently third.

Oh well Gm wanted to keep Chevy instead of Pontiac, That’s what they get.
I can only assume you mean Holden because Pontiac never competed in V8 Supercars…
