Here’s What Chevy Silverado EV Buyers Looking To Cancel Their Reservation Should Do

Reserving a Chevy Silverado EV when it was first unveiled was a straightforward process, involving entry of some basic information and putting a $100 deposit on the vehicle. However, some customers who decided to cancel their reservation have discovered it’s considerably more frustrating – at least on the surface – to get their $100 back.

Some canceling Chevy Silverado EV reservation holders have voiced on social media that their dealership isn’t cooperating in helping them end their reservation and get their refund. However, there is an official method to do so that is streamlined but doesn’t involve the dealership.

Fortunately, for those looking to get out of their reservation and get back their C-note, canceling the reservation and getting the refund is handled through the Chevy Silverado EV reservation website. The website link to the dedicated reservation management pages is in also included in the reservation holders’ confirmation email, which they received when they first reserved their unit.

The management page for the individual reservation is accessed by entering some information on the initial web page. This includes the reservation number for the Chevy Silverado EV, consisting of six digits, along with the holder’s email address of record. Those missing this info can call a listed toll-free number for help.

Sales of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV are currently under way in 3WT, 4WT and RST First Edition trim levels. Range on a single charge for the RST First Edition variant increased from 400 miles to 440 miles, while price fell a from $106,995 to $96,495.

The LT, non-First-Edition RST, and Trail Boss trim levels are expected to launch later in 2024. Meanwhile, the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV will usher in some significant updates and changes to the all-electric pickup model. Three battery sizes will be offered on the entry-level Work Truck (WT) trim. The model year will also see the debut of the aforementioned Trail Boss variant, with more details to follow closer to launch.

Utilizing  GM Ultium battery and GM Ultium Drive motor technologies, the Silverado EV WT’s current dual-motor setup is rated at 510 or 515 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque, while the RST First Edition in Wide Open Watts mode provides a scorching output of 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque.

Under the body panels, the Chevy Silverado EV uses the GM BT1 platform for structure, while production for the 2025 model year is set to begin on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

  1. I’d LOVE to see the numbers on reservation cancellations. I bet it’s even worse than what happened to the Hummer EV. Why does GM persist with this EV nonsense?

  3. I have been trying to cancel my Silverado EV reservation for over six months. No amount of communication works.
I just followed the procedure referenced in this article and got error messages twice. The third time the website simply did not work. It is most frustrating. The reservation process and cancellation process was done very poorly by General Motors. GM has my $100.
I purchased a Cadillac Lyriq which has been outstanding.

  5. In my case, whole story of reservations of Hummer EV and subsequent cancellations turned out be a nightmare, and I’m probably never going to trust any reservation with GM again.

Long story short: I don’t get the car for the intended price,
And more over, didn’t get a refund either – for 3 vehicles!

I’m an owner of a custom 2-door Hummer H2, and an enthusiast of the brands, so I’ve made a reservation on 04/03/2021, the day of Hummer EV SUV presentation.

Moreover, later I’ve made 2 more (!) reservations for a pickup, and for one more SUV per request from my foreign friend.
    Here are my reservation numbers

    #332492
    #899162
    #755654

However, when the vehicle was ready for production by Autumn 2023, the dealer demanded $30K markup.
I have found a different dealer, which agreed to owner the MSRP for MY preorder, but GM’s support rejected me to change the dealership.
A few months later that same dealership agreed to take “only” $20K markup from me.

It was like hostage negotiations. On December 12, 2023 I decided against it and to cancel all 3 orders.
But it wasn’t over! Another fun part began.

I tried to cancel reservations from the website, but it just put an error with any of my cards.

I’ve contacted support (the “GMC Consierge”), and canceled all there reservations manually.

However, half a year later, I don’t see refunds and contacted GMC again on May 12th, 2024. they told me “I do see the three orders has not been refunded. I will go ahead and escalate this for you today. …here is a case number 9-12834027207″

Two more months, please I’ve contacted them again today, and this time it was “ We ae unable to see the refund and which card it went to. You would need to contact the dealership to confirm your returned payment method”!

So for now, it looks like
    A) reservation made to GM doesn’t give you any right – neither protection from dealer markups, no right to change dealer
    B) refund is promised, but is not actually provided even 7 months after pre-order cancellation
    C) GM’s support tells you different story about refund every time

  6. By the way, I’ve also cancelled a reservation for Tesla Cybertruck recently.
Took me 5 seconds to cancel it from the website on June 29, 2024.

Transaction was made immediately (as my bank displayed) and posted on my Bank of America card 2 days later.

  8. I tried for a few days now and after entering my information it just says Submitting… and never goes off of that. This is BS, Chevy get your crap together. I canceled my Cybertruck order the other day and it was very professional and easy.

    1. I’m in the same boat, I have tried via Chrome and Edge, and every time I enter all my information, hit submit, and it says “Submitting” indefinitely. I’ve left it for days and it never changes. Very poor customer service, especially considering we are the ones that expressed the most interest when they first announced the Silverado EV, so they are shafting potential buyers.

      1. Quick update to my previous comment. I was unsuccessful with Chrome and Edge, but tried Safari today and the cancellation went through without issue. Now to see if they actually issue the refund to my card or not.
