As with most pickup trucks, one of the more important attributes of the all-electric Silverado EV is how much it can tow and haul. With General Motors updating the electric pickup’s towing and payload capacities last year, here’s a look at the payload capacities of each 2024 Chevy Silverado EV trim level.
For reference, the Silverado EV lineup for the 2024 model year includes the 3WT, the 4WT and the range-topping RST First Edition. Notably, as is the case with all GM trucks, a payload label affixed to the B-pillar indicates that particular vehicle’s exact weight and capacities.
Trim Level | Drivetrain | Two-Motor |
---|---|---|
Payload (lbs / kg) | ||
3WT | 4WD | 1,750 / 793 |
4WT | 4WD | 1,400 / 635 |
RST First Edition | 4WD | 1,400 / 635 |
As evidenced above, General Motors claims that the Silverado EV 3WT has a maximum payload capacity of 1,750 pounds, while the 4WT and RST First Edition models boast a lower rating at 1,400 pounds.
As a reminder, the online configurator for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition recently went online, giving prospective buyers the opportunity to configure their range-topping all-electric pickup. That being said, there’s not much configuration to be done outside of adding some dealer-installed accessories and pondering between two paint colors.
In regard to powertrain specifications, all Chevy Silverado EV variants feature GM Ultium batteries and a dual GM Ultium Drive motor setup. The 3WT trim level’s powertrain develops 510 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, while the 4WT gets 515 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the RST First Edition is rated at 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque.
Under the skin, the Bow Tie brand’s all-electric pickup truck rides on the narrow-body version of the GM BT1 platform, which it shares with the GMC Sierra EV. Production takes place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, while pricing for the RST First Edition starts at $96,495.

why is it o hard to tell the facts of this EV? The small details of the HP don’t mean beans to me. Torque is a what does the work. Now why is not even said here has HOW far the EV would pull this front end loader! 20 feet? 200 mile? why is this stat a secret. I know why but the real issue is. These vehicles are not intended for nothing more then a 96K grocery cart. All the fancy trim levels will stand proud parked on the side of the road or on the back of a tow truck
