The GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance system is likely to be offered in Mexico for the first time. A trademark filing at the Instituto Mexico de la Propiedad Industrial or IMPL indicates The General’s intentions.
The trademark application bears the serial number 0119853179720 and was filed on June 21st, 2024.
The trademark filing describes Super Cruise under the “goods and services” category as “electronic controllers to facilitate the semi-autonomous driving of a land motor vehicle, sold as an integral part thereof.” Super Cruise isn’t currently available in Mexico. However, the late June filing indicates that GM will introduce it there soon.
Super Cruise is either standard or available for 15 nameplates across the GM lineup as of spring 2024. These include models from all four core General Motors brands – Buick, Cadillac, Chevy, and GMC. The following models currently offer the technology on at least some trim levels:
- Buick Enclave
- Cadillac Celestiq
- Cadillac CT4
- Cadillac CT5
- Cadillac Escalade
- Cadillac Lyriq
- Cadillac XT6
- Chevrolet Blazer EV
- Chevrolet Silverado 1500/Silverado EV
- Chevrolet Suburban
- Chevrolet Tahoe
- GMC Acadia
- GMC Hummer EV
- GMC Sierra 1500/Sierra EV
- GMC Yukon
Three upcoming electric vehicles will also get the system this year, namely the Chevy Equinox EV, the Cadillac Optiq, and the Cadillac Escalade IQ. GM has also announced its intention to combine its Ultra Cruise technology with Super Cruise, streamlining its advanced driver assistance (ADAS) systems into a single product and brand.
Super Cruise users have now clocked more than 160 million miles using the technology. The feature is popular with users, influencing their purchase decisions and – according to 80 percent of them – helping make road trips more relaxing. The automaker is rolling out 350,000 more miles of coverage, nearly doubling the previous 400,000 miles.
GM is starting to add two-lane roads to the network in addition to major highways, though the different cross-traffic conditions and intersections there are expected to create additional challenges.

I thought it was ‘gm’, not ‘GM’?
