GM Releases Fix For Incorrectly Torqued 2024 Chevy Blazer, Blazer EV Mirror Fasteners

General Motors has released a Service Update for select units of the Chevy Blazer and Chevy Blazer EV due to an issue with incorrectly torqued mirror fasteners.

According to Service Update N242450210, certain examples of the 2024 Chevy Blazer and 2024 Chevy Blazer EV may have a condition where the fasteners on the driver’s side outside rearview mirror were improperly torqued down. As such, certified GM technicians have been instructed to inspect affected vehicles and fasten the driver’s side outside rearview mirror to the designated torque specifications. Notably, it should take techs less than 30 minutes to complete this fix.

It’s worth noting that it’s currently unclear how many vehicles are affected by this Service Update.

As a reminder, GM Authority imagined a Chevy Blazer Coupe and a Chevy Blazer EV Coupe in recently published renderings. Designed to exploit the recent trend initiated by German automakers, the crossover coupe body style gives otherwise ordinary-looking vehicles a sportier, more distinctive appearance, and certainly makes the Bow Tie brand’s midsize crossovers all the more attention-grabbing.

The Chevy Blazer is offered with the choice between two powerplants, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 308 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The GM nine-speed automatic transmission is equipped as standard, while FWD is standard and AWD is optional.

Meanwhile, the Blazer EV is powered by GM Ultium battery and GM Ultium Drive motor technologies, developing 288 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque in AWD variants, or 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet in rear-wheel-drive units.

As for structure, the ICE Blazer is underpinned by the GM C1 platform and produced at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, while the Blazer EV rides on the GM BEV3 platform and is built at the same Ramos Arizpe facility.
