GM Officially Introduces Ultium EV Architecture In Brazil

Following the arrival of the first Chevy Blazer EV units in Brazil in June, General Motors has just officially introduced the Ultium EV architecture in the South American country.

The automaker introduced the all-electric Ultium architecture in Brazil, unveiling the main virtues and features of the new structural base on which most advanced zero-emission vehicles have been built so far by GM. In fact, the latest-generation Ultium structure marks the beginning of a new era of very high-tech electric cars from GM in the Brazilian automotive market.

“This is one of the reasons why this new generation of GM electric vehicles features a striking design, above-average performance, high autonomy and a generous equipment package,” said Director of Electrical Engineering at GM South America, Plínio Cabral. “Another benefit of Ultium technology is the possibility of designing vehicles with more than one motor, different types of traction and efficient energy regeneration systems,” he added.

Unlike previous structural foundations for electric vehicles, GM Brazil highlights that one of the main advantages of the Ultium EV architecture is modularity, as it is a structural foundation developed specifically for electric vehicles. Due to its high flexibility, the Ultium architecture can be applied to vehicles of different sizes, body configurations and with a customized set of motors, traction modes and battery modules.

In particular, GM’s Ultium architecture battery modules are another major highlight of the platform as they feature a more advanced chemistry for greater energy storage capacity. This provides increased vehicle range, faster charging speeds and improved durability, thus enabling a faster and more convenient charging experience for users compared to previous battery packs.

The Ultium EV architecture will officially debut in Brazil in the coming weeks with the official launch of the new Chevy Blazer EV in the largest country in South America, which represents Chevrolet’s second-largest market by volume worldwide. As such, the all-electric midsize crossover will be the first in a full line of models available in Brazil boasting the company’s EV technology.
