Pending the court’s approval in the next few days, GM Canada will settle an ignition switch class action lawsuit regarding recalls announced back in 2014.

“A ‘Net Settlement Amount’ shall be determined by deducting Administrative Expenses, taxes, and any honoraria payments from the Settlement Fund Amount,” the settlement reads. “The entire Net Settlement Amount shall be distributed to Settlement Class Members with claims determined to be eligible by the Settlement Administrator.”
Additionally, the settlement agreement also states that the “Delta Ignition Switch Subclass will receive twice the amount paid to members of the Camaro Knee-Key and Electric Power Steering Subclasses, and members of the Key Rotation Subclass shall receive one-and-a-half times the amount paid to members of the Camaro Knee-Key and Electric Power Steering Subclasses.”
It’s worth noting that General Motors denies the allegations and claims that it’s settling the class action lawsuit in order to avoid the risk and cost of further litigation.

I still think its the outrages amount of doodads and knicknacks people hang on a 2 foot long key chain ! Inadvertently stepping on it and turning the ignition off ! I was always taught keyed ign cylinders should only be just the key cause it also prolongs the life of the tumblers in the switch
