Genesis Magma Performance Line Confirmed For Production Rivaling Cadillac V-Series

Genesis is debuting its new line of performance- and aesthetics-oriented vehicles, the Genesis Magma line, at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed in England, confirming that the Magma line is now set to hit production. Genesis has provided hints and concepts of the Magma program over the last few years, officially launching the program this past March. The first production vehicle to roll out from the new program will be the GV60 Magma, a compact all-electric crossover targeted for production in the third quarter of the 2025 calendar year.

According to Genesis, the GV60 will “closely resemble the concept model, with necessary modifications made to comply with regional regulations.” The GV60 Magma Concept is on display at the Genesis stand at Goodwood, a two-story installation that also houses the G80 Magma Special and X Gran Berlinetta Concept, all three of which are part of the new Magma program.

The dynamic debut at Goodwood will place the GV60 Magma concept on the hillclimb during the festival this weekend. What’s more, the G80 EV Magma Concept, the G70 Track Taxi Nordschleife, and the GV80 Coupe Concept will be running up the hill as well.

Compared to the rest of the Genesis lineup, the Magma line will offer a stance that is wider and lower than the standard models, as well as updated chassis and suspension components and other changes to enhance the driving experience and styling.

The Magma line is poised to compete with the likes of BMW M and Mercedes-AMG performance models, but it will also face American competition. When Genesis launches the new Magma variants for the G70 and G80, they will rival Cadillac‘s V-Series performance sedans, the CT4-V and CT5-V. It’s also worth mentioning that GM is expected to launch a performance variant of the Cadillac Lyriq, set to be called the Lyriq-V, in conjunction with the 2025 model year. As such, Genesis will compete directly with Cadillac’s performance-oriented with its own lineup of EVs and ICE-based vehicles.

  1. Yeah, that’ll do a lot for sales. When I see a Genesis maybe once every 2-3 weeks to begin with. Uh, huh, brilliant.

  4. I have my doubts about a line of cars named after a geological process. At least they didn’t name it “lava.”

  7. Sorry, but will never buy Hyundai or South Korea products. Inferior products that look good, like their appliances and cell phones. American or German cars are better. Don’t bother looking it up. Just drive one. I own a C8, BMW, Mercedes and Porsche. Faster, stronger, better built. Nothing, absolutely nothing can touch these cars in any comparison, and you can drive them daily.

    1. No kidding. I miss Maytag. Mine is 30 years old, still works. My parents had 2 in their lifetimes. Samsung is known for exploding washers and a neighbor bought an LG fridge that promptly failed. Parts were so back ordered the repair place gave them a generic brand white fridge for 5 or 6 months while waiting for parts.
