Fleeing Chevy Corvette Z06 Driver Causes Three-Car Collision In California

A Chevy Corvette Z06 was involved in a three-car collision in Riverside County, California, on the sunny afternoon of Sunday, July 7th, 2024, as the apparently drunk driver fled the police following an incident of reckless driving.

According to Rivko News’ Facebook page, the incident started when a police car pulled over the Chevy Corvette Z06 near the fire station in the gated community of Canyon Lake, and the Vette driver decided to flee the scene.

With the police in pursuit, the Chevy Corvette Z06 sped off on Greenwald Avenue, leaving the community’s gates and almost immediately crashing into two other vehicles. Images taken at the scene show the other vehicles showing significant damage, including a wheel partially or completely removed.

However, the Corvette Z06 appears to have taken the brunt of the accident, with portions of the car practically obliterated. A significant part of the right side of the front trunk, along with the passenger side door and most of the body panels on the passenger side, is ripped away. The mangled remains are shown being dragged onto a flatbed for removal.

Fortunately, the people involved in the crash came out of the accident in much better condition than their vehicles. No injuries are mentioned at all for the Corvette Z06 driver, who was arrested on the spot for DUI. One of the other drivers was transported to the hospital after sustaining minor injuries, but beyond that, no serious harm was inflicted.

Posters on the Facebook page claim that the Corvette Z06 driver is a known resident of the Canyon Lake gated community despite the possible lack of a visible community sticker on the windshield. The accident also apparently occurred near a golf course, with some posters noting that it is fortunate no golf carts were struck.

The Corvette Z06 driver, of course, is now out one expensive car, along with whatever other charges are levied against them for fleeing the police, destroying other vehicles, and drunk driving.

One commentator summed up the situation by remarking, “It’s too bad the money used to buy that car couldn’t have been used to buy a brain.”

  8. What an entitled drunk a-hole.

I hope their license is taken for at least 10 years. Driving is a privilege and not a right. Sad how other innocent drivers just happen to be in that place at that time and could have been killed.

  11. A very knowledgeable reporter to have noted that “A significant part of the right side of the engine, along with the passenger side door and most of the body panels on the passenger side, is ripped away.”. Uh, the engine is in the back and none of the photos show it at all…I think you are referring to the front trunk area.

  12. I must be missing something. I thought the ZO6 left a gated community and almost immediately crashed into several cars. From those pictures the ZO6 is in an isolated mountain area and not near any housing community.

  15. As a Corvette owner for many years, I crindge every time I see something like this happening, it really gives us safe Corvette drivers/owners who respect these cars and drive them sensibly and at times maybe “Con Brio” (but not F-ing drunk or drugged out!) all the while enjoying the very existence of these amazing vehicles. I swear it’s like those folks that enjoy having a properly registered gun collection, are fully capable of handling their firearms with respect and I’m sure crindge when they see some nutjob using weapons improperly with the result usually ending very badly…and who gets blamed for these nutjobs out there, none other than the qualified and safe handling gun owners who are fully registered and respect the Second Amendment. And so now, some well intentioned citizen will probably go after every Corvette owner they see, pointing out horrible accidents like this one would probably not have happened if they didn’t build a car that was so damned dangerous, not taking into consideration that any “Drunk Driver” in any vehicle can do serious damage if not cause fatal accidents, you don’t need a powerful sports car to create these types of accidents, just a “loose nut behind the wheel” and you’ve now got the formula for a disasterous accident like we see here. How very sad indeed. Okay, ‘Nuff said.

  16. As a C8 Z06 owner myself, I am saddened and angry at this situation. Luckily no major injuries except for the ego of the Z06 driver, and I guess his wallet as well. Damn….. take responsibility for your behavior dumb ass. RIP Z06.
