General Motors is highlighting the outdoorsy Chevy Traverse Z71 in a brief new advertisement video. The video shows the Traverse Z71 out on a dirt road with a dirt bike in tow, providing the owner with a “Summer King Moment” as they get off the pavement. The new video plays well into Chevy‘s strategy to make the new third-generation Traverse more appealing to men.
The video is 25 seconds long and begins with the Chevy Traverse Z71 pulling up in a forest. We see the driver get out and move around to the rear of the vehicle, where a mountain bike is mounted behind the hatch on a carrier attached to the hitch. After getting the bike off the carrier, the driver hits the trails on two wheels and enjoys the forest vibes.
Although the video is quite brief, it does highlight a few of the Chevy Traverse Z71’s features, including Terrain Mode, as well as the twin-clutch all-wheel drive system (RPO code G99). The twin-clutch AWD is exclusive to the Z71 trim level. The Z71 also features 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires and off-road suspension, plus it offers an extra inch of ground clearance over the standard Traverse lineup, as well as improved approach and departure angles. Other off-roader features include a skid plate and red tow hooks.
Under the hood, all third-gen Traverse models equip the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, which is rated at 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. The GM C1 platform provides the underpinnings. Production takes place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.
As GM Authority covered previously, General Motors aims to shift its demographic with the third-gen Traverse to appeal more to male buyers, with the buyer mix for the previous generation predominately composed of women at 70 percent female customers.

What is an off-road suspension on this Traverse? Quality shocks properly tuned would be a great place to start. Would it pain them to offer a quality shock on a special package aside fromZR2s? Perhaps some Bilsteins?
