Ben Franklin once said, “Experience keeps a dear school, but fools will learn in no other.” Now, if only Ben Franklin were alive to see the expensive school of the frunk finger test. While videos of individuals slicing up their fingers in the frunk of the Tesla Cybertruck are somewhat commonplace these days, we have yet to see anyone conduct the same test with the frunk of the Chevy Silverado EV. At least that was the case – until now.
In a brief video recently posted to social media, we see what appears to be the lot of a Chevrolet dealership. The vehicle in question is the Chevy Silverado EV RST, while the willing test subject looks like a salesman, ready to demonstrate the danger of the Silverado EV’s frunk mechanism.
As the video starts, the salesman casually places his hand on the fender of the all-electric pickup, with the tips of his fingers resting in the groove between the fender and the frunk. The frunk lid begins to close, pausing momentarily. Off-camera, someone advises, “You gotta hold it,” likely referencing the button to activate the closing mechanism.
For a brief moment, everything seems fine as the frunk lid makes contact with the salesman’s fingers. However, the mechanism soon cinches the lid shut, causing the salesman to quickly plead for the frunk to be opened, his free hand clawing at the lid in distress. The video abruptly ends, leaving viewers wondering about the extent of the salesman’s injuries.
“Frunk around and find out,” one user quips in the comments, capturing the general sentiment. Others suggest using a stick or hot dog for such demonstrations in the future rather than risking injury.
Certainly, some good advice. Hopefully, anyone thinking about trying this experiment will learn from others’ mistakes. Check out the full finger test video right here:

Yeah, these are exactly the kind of geniuses you can expect to be handling your ZR1 when it needs service.
A salesman vs a certified technician?
Looks like we need to ban EVs and frunks! So dangerous.
Because ICE cars famously don’t have doors that shut on fingers.
It only happens to ICE drivers by accident though. We’re not dumb enough to do it on purpose.
At least he still has his fingers. He’d better not try this on a Cybertruck unless he wants his fingers to land up like the carrots on Throttle House.
If it had the diesel, we wouldn’t have this problem.
Should have stuck his head there he wasn’t using it. Glad he doesn’t sell table saws.
On the table saw:
Maybe he should!
proves most car salesmen sell cars because they do not have enough braincell’s to do anything else. Same as politicians,
My buddy was finishing up his 76 camaro and his uncle shooting the $hit had his hand on the fender when the hood inadvertently slammed closed ! How he didnt lose 4 fingers is beyond belief ! To make matters even worse the hood latch jammed up ! Had to use a prybar ti free up his hand which then bent the hood out of shape ! Scary moment indeed !
So did he go to a Second Hand store?
I love people who do stupid things 😂😂😂
Can’t fix stupid, but you can vaccinate it.
Ban assault frunks!
