Chevy Silverado sales during the second quarter of 2024 again kept the Bow Tie brand’s line of full-size light-duty and heavy-duty pickup trucks, along with medium-duty trucks, in second place in its segment from the previous quarter when ranked by sales volume, as it has for well over a year now. The Ford F-Series (see running Ford F-series sales) lineup kept the top spot in spite of an eight percent slip in sales to 191,561 units. The GM Authority Take
Chevy Silverado sales during the second quarter of the year were positive, like those of its corporate cousin, the GMC Sierra. Combining all of GM’s trucks, both ICE-based and battery-powered models, maintained the automaker’s standing as the best-seller of full-size pickup trucks in the U.S., outselling Ford by nearly 35K units. Notably, sales of the F-Series were in the red again, as they were the previous quarter.
Chevy’s truck lineup of refreshed models and off-road-focused offerings positions the Bow Tie brand quite well in terms of sales, as an all-electric model joins that stable of offerings. Full-size trucks are the lifeblood of General Motors, with Chevy and GMC models combined accounting for 34 percent, or over a third, of all GM sales in the U.S. during Q2 2024. Meanwhile, the Chevy truck lineup is responsible for 33 percent, or a third, of all Bow Tie brand sales in the U.S.
Even more impressive is that the Chevy Silverado 1500 was the 16th best-selling vehicle in the world in 2023.
About Chevrolet Silverado
For 2024, the Chevy Silverado 2.7L engine is called TurboMax. That engine now gets the Hydra-Matic 8L80 M5U revised eight-speed automatic transmission.
Also, the 2024 Silverado ZR2 offers the LZ0 Duramax diesel engine to provide more low-end torque while off-roading, joining the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine for available powerplants. That 6.2-liter will sound meaner thanks to a new Active Exhaust system. Additionally, the 2024 Silverado ZR2 is available with new beadlock-capable wheels along with new black and red beadlock wheel decorative rings.
Meanwhile, the 2024 Silverado High Country will be available with the Midnight Edition Package. All trims of the 2024 Silverado 1500 offer a new drop-in bedliner and a new bed Utility Wall Package.
About Chevrolet Silverado HD
In the fall of 2022, GM unveiled the refreshed 2024 Chevy Silverado HD with new exterior styling, an overhauled interior space, new tech like standard wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control, and upgrades to the powertrain lineup. It offers a new High Country Premium package that replaces the previous High Country Deluxe package. Also, the 2024 Silverado HD offers two new 22-inch wheel options, with some now available on more trim levels. The 2024 Silverado HD gets a new Midnight Edition package as well.
In April 2023, GM officially debuted the first-ever 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 and the new 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 Bison as the Bow Tie brand’s most capable heavy-duty off-roaders.
The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 shined in MotorTrend’s off-road pickup comparison test as the “one beefy heavy-duty off-road truck standing alone at the top of the mountain.”
In January, GM unveiled the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD, highlighting several updates and changes, the most notable of which is the highly anticipated new 2025 Chevy Silverado HD Trail Boss package.
About Chevrolet Silverado EV
The first-ever 2024 Chevy Silverado EV officially debuted at CES 2022, arriving in the well-equipped RST First Edition and fleet-focused WT trim levels. The 2024 Silverado EV 3WT gets a new fleet package with an even higher tow capacity.
The all-electric Silverado was engineered from the ground up to be exclusively an electric vehicle.
The RST trim level arrives with a long feature list, debuting as the RST First Edition. A Trail Boss trim will launch as a 2025 model. Other trims, such as a new Custom trim level that GM Authority was first to report about, as well as a High Country trim, are expected to join the lineup in the near future.
The RST First Edition features GM’s Adaptive Air Ride suspension as standard and four-wheel steering for improved maneuverability, like that of the Hummer EV Pickup.
The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV 3WT and 4WT deliver an estimated 393 miles and 450 miles of range from a full charge, respectively. The 2024 Silverado EV 4WT delivers true pickup truck capabilities with a maximum tow rating of 10,000 pounds and a maximum payload rating of 1,400 pounds.
Since then, the Silverado EV RST has achieved a 460-mile range in real-world testing.

Comment
Picking up share from Ford and especially Ram. Good work on the truck side of the business gm.
That said, what Tavares is doing with the former Chrysler group is like watching a train wreck. Someone might as well grab their customers because they’re certainly doing their best to drive them away.
