A video posted on Reddit shows the unfortunate moment when the driver of a blue Honda CR-V SUV backs into the side of a brand new GMC Hummer EV Pickup parked on the opposite side of the street, inflicting considerable damage, then drives off.
According to the owner of the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, who posted the video, the truck had been purchased new less than 24 hours before the accident – with more bad news to follow.
The Honda CR-V driver backs out of a space between a Tesla Model Y and a Ford F-150. They back across the street, turning the vehicle as they do so, in order to leave in the opposite direction from the slant of the parking space their crossover occupied.
Shortly after the CR-V crosses the median, it appears to jerk backward suddenly at considerably higher power, suggesting that the driver might have accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake pedal while trying to stop in order to go forward and complete the turn. This, of course, is a moment before the Honda impacts the Hummer.
The Honda CR-V clearly strikes the GMC Hummer EV Pickup with considerable force just above the driver’s side rear tire. The Honda driver’s arm can be seen being tossed up in the air by the impact, which is also enough to switch on the crossover’s windshield wipers. The Hummer EV, despite its immense weight, is shoved sideways to the curb, while the side of the bed is buckled in.
The CR-V driver then drives away, wipers still flicking across the dry windshield. When finally tracked down by the police, according to the Hummer owner, the person driving the Honda claimed they thought they struck a tree.
This claim seems difficult to sustain given that, while trees are planted at intervals along the sidewalk, they are behind a solid row of parked cars, which seems as though it would be clearly visible to the driver given the perspectives involved.
Adding insult to injury, the Honda CR-V driver turned out to be uninsured, according to the owner of the GMC Hummer EV Pickup.

As a reminder, 2025 GMC Hummer EV Pickup prices are unchanged from the 2024 model year, with starting MSRPs ranging from $98,845 for the 2X trim level to $116,940 for the 3X trim equipped with the 24-module battery. The stillborn 2 trim level was officially dropped and four paint colors were retired from the lineup, with new colors added as indirect replacements.
Production of the 2025 Hummer Pickup kicked off on June 24th, 2024 at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.

CR-V drivers are THE WORST. Seriously, the model is like a warning to everyone else on the road.
us normal crv drivers dont claim him
Not a doubt in my mind the driver was a senior and probably an old one of them. On the other hand, the Hummer is probably totalled and it’s one less blight on the landscape. Downside is that all of our insurance rates will climb.
Boomers gonna boom? 😉
And that’ll be $30000 to fix
kkkkkkkkk cool… know hummer is giant and ugly,,, but seems proposital.
totally on purpose
The US has turned into a free for all, 3rd world S hole.
