Almost simultaneously with the official presentation of GM’s Ultium electric vehicle architecture in Brazil, General Motors has just officially introduced the all-new Chevy Equinox EV in the South American country.
The automaker unveiled the all-new Chevy Equinox EV for the first time in Brazil this week, as part of the marketing rollout for the upcoming Ultium-based all-electric vehicle offensive that is set to launch imminently in the Brazilian market. As such, the company is already displaying the new Equinox EV on the official Chevrolet Brazil site in anticipation of the upcoming zero-emission compact crossover’s local launch.
“The new Equinox EV, fully electric and based on the new Ultium platform, is synonymous with capability, safety and performance, made to accompany you wherever you decide to go,” said Communications Department of GM Brazil. “Every detail of the design has been carefully refined to convey even more elegance, including a spacious interior with strategically distributed cargo compartments and an infotainment system with a 17.7-inch screen,” the company added.
Notably, the all-new Chevy Equinox EV represents the second next-generation electric vehicle based on the Ultium architecture that GM will launch in Brazil before the end of this year. The first will be the new Chevy Blazer EV, which the company’s local engineering team began testing last year. The first batch of Blazer EV units arrived in the country in mid-June, and will be launched in the Brazilian market shortly.
First confirmed alongside the Blazer EV in May 2023, the all-new Chevy Equinox EV will initially be offered in Brazil in a single variant equipped with an Ultium Drive dual-motor AWD powertrain that generates 290 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque. While the Equinox EV is shown on the website in the 3LT trim level, it is not yet clear what specific trim the version will be available in Brazil.
The all-new Chevy Equinox EV will officially launch in Brazil’s domestic market during the second half of this year, following the arrival of the Blazer EV in the country’s dealerships. As in the North American countries where it has already been launched, the new Equinox EV is expected to become Chevrolet’s most affordable electric vehicle in the Brazilian market and stimulate local customer demand for the brand’s zero-emissions lineup.
