Alfa Romeo Junior Could Come To The U.S. As Potential Chevy Bolt Rival

Italian automaker Alfa Romeo is reportedly considering selling the all-electric Junior Veloce hatchback in the U.S. Alfa’s current U.S. lineup is limited to three ICE-based models: the Giulia sedan, the Stelvio crossover, and the Tonale hybrid crossover. If Alfa does bring the Junior Veloce EV stateside, it will compete with the upcoming next-generation Chevy Bolt EV, despite Alfa Romeo and Chevy not normally being direct competitors. Since the Alfa Romeo Junior is even smaller than the discontinued Chevy Bolt EUV, it’s simply too small to be a Cadillac Optiq rival.
According to a report from Automotive News Europe, Alfa Romeo will show its U.S. dealers the Junior Veloce EV to determine if the all-electric hatchback has a future in the U.S. market. If the Junior were sold in the U.S., it would likely only be in select states, including California and other markets that have adopted California’s CARB emissions restrictions.
Specs for the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce include 281 horsepower, with the eCMP2 architecture used under the skin. The Junior Veloce offers higher performance than the standard Junior EV, the latter of which is motivated by 156 horsepower. Both configurations are equipped with a 54 kWh battery pack. In the Veloce Junior, the run to 62 mph takes 5.9 seconds, while the top speed is in excess of 124 mph.
U.S. pricing for the Junior Veloce EV is unknown but is estimated to be around $42,000 before shipping costs. What’s more, the Junior Veloce EV is produced in Poland, which means it will not be subject to hefty tariffs on Chinese-made EVs, as is the case for the Volvo EX30 and all-electric Mini Cooper.
Meanwhile, General Motors is currently developing the next-generation Chevy Bolt EV, which is expected to utilize GM Ultium battery technology and GM Ultium Drive motor technology. Details are currently under wraps, but GM aims to offer the next-gen Chevy Bolt EV as the most affordable electric vehicle in the U.S. when it launches. Look for the new Bolt to debut for the 2026 model year.

I’ll say this. For how bad Alfa is doing in the US Stellantis is trying really hard to make it work. Its already written off Alfa as one of the brands Stellantis would axe. In all honesty, Alfa just needs more tech for the money and better reliability. Their cars drive great, look great, and I would love to see Alfa succeed in the US.
I am an Alfa fan as well and hope they do succeed.
I agree that Alfa needs way more Tech and better interior materials for the prices that they charge.
Also, if I was running Alfa I would do way more daring exterior designs and be conservative on the interior side. Might spruce some more sales. I feel like they want a little too timid on the current vehicles (exterior wise)
Dumping money into Alfa and Fiat in NA while starving their established brands here is dumb.
Alfa Rosso Red and Verde Fangio Metallic Green are two of the best automotive paint colors on the Planet.
Just one guy’s opinion .
