2025 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss In Black: Real-World Photos

General Motors isn’t shying away from the all-electric off-roader models, with the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss among the latest battery-powered GM vehicles to offer trail-ready chops and zero local emissions. GM provided a taste of the Silverado EV Trail Boss in a Super Bowl ad last year, and GM Authority spy photographers even caught a glimpse of a prototype unit out for testing in Michigan this past April. Now, we’re getting a look at a more production-ready prototype with the following GM Authority Real-World Photos.

A prototype unit of the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss.

The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss prototype seen here is painted in Black paint (paint code GBA) and was seen on the road alongside the GMC Sierra EV AT4, as GM Authority covered previously. Like this Silverado EV Trail Boss, the Sierra EV AT4 was also close to production-spec.

Highlights of the Silverado EV Trail Boss include a set of all-terrain tires and a unique front bumper treatment, accompanied by a pair of red tow hooks. Under the cladding around the fenders, the Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss rides on a set of 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler AT tires, the same tires as the Sierra EV AT4. The 35-inch tires are wrapped around unique 18-inch wheels, replacing the 24-inch wheels equipped by the Silverado EV RST, which is notable as it may impact the vehicle’s range per charge. Tire sizing is set at LT285/75R18.

As for off-roading tech and features, the Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss may offer a set of locking differentials and Crab Walk capabilities, similar to the GMC Hummer EV. These features would enhance the rig’s off-road prowess, allowing it to navigate challenging terrains with ease, while also showing off on the pavement when the time is right.

As expected, the Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss will ride on the GM BT1 platform and feature GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors. Other trims in the lineup include the fleet-oriented WT and the road-oriented RST.

Notably, the Silverado EV Trail Boss will not be built at the start of regular production for the all-electric Silvy, but is instead expected to launch later on in the 2025 model year.

  1. I seen an EV Silverado yesterday and parked my Zr2 Diesel next to it. I liked the front and the side to the rear door and then not so much. Maybe its just me but the porprtions just dont work from the rear door back. Its just wierd looking. Again just my tastes but I thought my Zr2 looked better.

    1. Dislike the fact that it looks like an avalanche. Wish they would of let it look like Silverado.

    2. For the Full BOF/UniBody merging for strength and rigidity they had to do that. This also allows them to make that mid-gate.

  2. Excellent truck, but red tow hooks are kind of cliché

  3. Should have just brought back Avalanche and made it an EV unit
    Basically that’s all it is
