As the first model year of a new fourth generation, the 2025 Chevy Equinox debuts significant changes to the exterior, interior, and technology of the crossover, including the addition of two new exterior paint colors, Cacti Green and Reef Blue Metallic. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the Reef Blue color option.
Identified with color code GAL and touch-up paint number WA-225K, Reef Blue Metallic is one of eight paint colors offered on the 2025 Chevy Equinox, which, in combination with white and black roof options, offer a total of 21 different available choices. The crossover’s basic color lineup consists of the following:
- Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (G1W)
- Lakeshore Blue Metallic (GXP)
- Mosaic Black Metallic (GB8)
- Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
- Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD)
- Summit White (GAZ)
- Cacti Green (GVR – new for 2025)
- Reef Blue Metallic (GAL – new for 2025)
Reef Blue Metallic is available at no additional cost on the Activ and RS trim levels of the 2025 Chevy Equinox but is not offered on the LT trim. The color can be combined with a Summit White (GAZ) roof on the Activ trim or a Mosaic Black Metallic (GB8) roof on the RS, again at no additional charge.
It is available in conjunction with all Activ and RS interior colorways, namely Jet Black with Red Accents and Jet Black / Maple Sugar.
As a reminder, the full lineup of interior colorways available on the 2025 Chevy Equinox consists of the following four options:
- Artemis Gray
- Jet Black
- Jet Black with Red Accents
- Jet Black / Maple Sugar
The 2025 Chevy Equinox debuts the Activ trim with an exterior that features unique front fascia styling and blacked-out badging. The Activ rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. The interior sports premium Evotex upholstery with sueded microfiber along with a standard heated steering wheel and heated front seats. The trim is largely aesthetic and does not include any performance upgrades.
Motivation is supplied by the 2025 Equinox by a single powerplant option, the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine cranking out 175 horsepower. Torque output varies depending on whether the crossover has standard front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive, with FWD models developing 184 pound-feet of torque and AWD configurations providing 203 pound-feet of torque.
The fourth-gen Chevy Equinox is underpinned by an updated variant of the GM D2 platform under the skin, with wheelbase, length, and width increased for the bigger all-new generation. Production takes place at the GM San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico.

I don’t understand the logic in not offering all colors on all trim levels. Same with the interior colorways. GM has done this on a number of vehicles lately. Maybe it has been this way for awhile, but as I am in the market now I’m recognizing it more.
They do it to upsell if you…you like a color more in the higher trim levels that isnt available in the lower trim levels
Yeah I can see that. Maybe they have some market research that suggests those that buy loud colors tend to opt for the RS package too.
This is such a beautiful SUV, I saw it at the NYIAS and fell in love with it. They need to offer more powertrains, I would like to see the PHEV powertrain, only offered in China and maybe the 2.0 liter Turbo? I still love my 2019 Equinox with the 1.5Turbo.
Like the color, but not the wheels. Just my opinion.
