The 2025 Chevy Equinox brings in multiple changes and updates to the exterior styling, interior, and available tech features as it introduces the crossover’s fourth generation. Among those changes is the addition of the Cacti Green and Reef Blue Metallic paint colors to the lineup. Here, we’re examining the new Cacti Green paint choice in detail.
Cacti Green is tagged with color code GVR and utilizes touch-up paint number WA-125J. It is among the 2025Â Chevy Equinox crossover’s eight paint colors, many of which can be ordered in conjunction with white or black roof options for a total of 21 available combinations. The colors on offer for the 2025 model year consist of:
- Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (G1W)
- Lakeshore Blue Metallic (GXP)
- Mosaic Black Metallic (GB8)
- Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
- Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD)
- Summit White (GAZ)
- Cacti Green (GVR – new for 2025)
- Reef Blue Metallic (GAL – new for 2025)
The LT and Activ trim levels can be ordered with the Cacti Green exterior paint color at no additional charge. The color is not available on the RS trim level, however. Cacti Green can be combined with a Mosaic Black Metallic (GB8) roof or a Summit White (GAZ) roof on the LT trim, or Summit White only on the Activ trim level.
It is offered as a no-charge option on both trims and can be combined with any of their interior colorways, including Artemis Gray, Jet Black, and Jet Black / Maple Sugar.
For reference, the 2025 Chevy Equinox has a total of four interior colorways across all trim levels, as shown below:
- Artemis Gray
- Jet Black
- Jet Black with Red Accents
- Jet Black / Maple Sugar
The Activ trim is new for the Equinox’s 2025 model year, featuring more rugged styling but no additional performance beyond the other trims besides all-terrain tires fitted to its 17-inch aluminum wheels. The trim features blacked-out badges, a trim-exclusive front fascia, and other styling details. The front seats are heated and all interior upholstery is Evotex material with sueded microfiber, while a heated steering wheel is also standard for the trim.
Under the hood, the 2025 Chevy Equinox cradles one engine choice, the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine developing 175 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque for the standard FWD configuration. If the crossover is optioned with AWD, the engine provides 203 pound-feet of torque instead.
The wheelbase, length, and width of the updated GM D2 platform that underpins the model have all been increased for the larger Chevy Equinox dimensions. Production is carried out exclusively at the GM San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico.

I love this color on smaller vehicles like the Trax and Trailblazer, but not so sure about this application. Just like the Fountain Blue and similar that look good on the smaller ones but awful on the Equinox and larger.
I get compliments on my Cacti Green Trax fairly often. Just yesterday as I parked to go walking, an old guy relaxing under a picnic pavilion nodded and said “Interesting color…”
I said “Thanks, I think…”
He said “Yeah, I really like it!”
And a couple of weeks ago at another trail parking lot, a lady said “Is that your green car?”
I said “Yes…”
She said “I LOVE that color!”
I said “Thanks, I do too…”
So there ya go. On the Equinox, I love it monochrome. I would take it with the black roof. But I would shy away from it with the white roof.
Would be awesome on the Colorado, at least on the Trail Boss and ZR2.
If Toyota can sell a lot of Lunar Rock RAV4, Tacoma, Tundra, and even Sequoia, and Ford can sell Cactus Gray Mavericks, Bronco Sports, Broncos and F-150 over the last several years, then Chevy should be able to find customers for this color on the Equinox, Colorado and Silverado, in addition to the Trax and TB.
Guess they had plenty of this paint to transfer from Bowling Green plant after it was a total failure on the Corvette.
Lots of colors are one-year only on Corvette. Been that way for a long time.
My brother has been watching a new Cacti Green Corvette for sale at a dealer lot in Hays (west Central) Kansas. Chances of a sale there must be near zero.
aka “Split-Pea Soup Green”. Yeah, I bet old ladies love it .
When GM North America finally decides to bring Chevy Equinox Plus PHEV technology home from China, then it will truly be a green(er) vehicle. C’mon, what are you waiting for? With 96 miles on a single charge, GM’s Equinox Plus blows RAV4 and CRV away. China’s battery and charging technology is so far advanced it’s shameful.
